My 8-man playoff solution

[JAW20]

Less districts. (stems from states like Oklahoma) that do things similar to this

8 Districts with 8 teams per district

Start the year a week later (8 games schedule no bye).. Everyone plays week 1 NON DISTRICT for a tune-up against whoever you want doesn't matter.

Top 4 teams of each district are in the playoffs (keeps 32 teams). Bottom 4 out. No questions. No "I beat them but lost to a good team" It's real simple, win games to get in. Tie breakers are as followed 1) Head to head 2) Points allowed (reward your defense not your 8 man offense)

The power points do not come into effect until seeding the playoffs... They're not used to get into the playoffs.

I understand what you are saying but I think you would still have the problem out West where a couple below average teams get in and maybe in the East you have a couple teams that are 6-2 or 5-3 that don't get in because their district is loaded. It kind of reminds me of basketball sub districts.

I hear ya... But at least it's "you get what you get" and not a point system getting teams in... I don't know if there is a perfect answer or not...

Easy solution, cut the playoff field to 24 or 16. No reason to take 32 teams.

Agreed, go to a 9 game schedule and 16 in the playoffs. The more games you play the more the cream rises.

I do agree with your thoughts Jaw20. Make performing well in your district a priority. Less districts the better. Make each week count.

Use the basketball points system, its the best system out there. We should use it for all levels of football.
