I still have the Akai reel to reel and the Sansui receiver, matched with the original Bose 501s. I haven't seen anything to match those. We had a Dual turntable that I'm trying to replace (ex wife took it to Salvation Army 🤬). Hard to match that old quad 4 channel sound.
A buddy's Parents had some Bose shelf speakers from the 70s. Not sure if 501s or not as they had multiple series but he still has them. I camp with him every January and when i asked him last year if he still had them he said yes and still sounds just as good as the day he bought them. Bose is the stuff man.

Good sound and service too. They used to offer replacement for old gear, not sure if they still do.

I'm 62 years old and this is still probably my favorite album of all time. Every song is just outstanding. I can put this on my iPod and just listen straight through, no skipping. Brad's vocals are just amazing. He left this world way too soon. Maybe the best debut album by a group ever.

Anyone else doing the Morrissey/Journey back to back week after next? Morrissey at the Palace on Monday and Journey at YUM on Tuesday. I may be too old to do it but it's not going to stop me.

If you live around Louisville, enjoy instrumental funk-soul groove music and can handle three (3) shows in the same week,, you might consider seeing TRUE LOVES at Zanzabar on Tuesday, October 20th ... as they remind of AWB, Snarky Puppy and The Dap-Kings. Tix are only $15. https://www.truelovesband.com/

Was thinking about going there next Friday for Jammy Buffet. I'm not sure what a Buffet/Dead combination would sound like but could be interesting.

Found in the wild. I’m not really a fan of Techno, but this a so freaking cool I can’t help but like it. Especially since it’s performed by real musicians on real instruments, not just something generated by a computer program.

The Grateful Dead Music Festival is at the Louisville Waterfront Amp this Friday-Sunday. I'm considering going Sunday. Always down for some live music.

These Dylan tracks are both amazing and then interesting, too. Charlie McCoy improvised the flamenco on Desolation Row and Dylan tossed the electric version. Then on Blood On the Tracks, he cut Up To Me because of the similarity to Shelter From the Storm. Each are tremendous. McCoy's playing is something else.

Dad was a BIG Dylan guy. As much as I loved his and Mom's music growing up, I could never really get into him. Has a few songs I like. Those two aren't bad.

Strangely it took me into my late teens to discover Dylan because my dad didn't listen to him. I remember hearing Like A Rolling Stone for the first time in a parking lot in Lexington in my Al Bundy Dodge Dart and Radio Shack stereo. It was a foundational moment and for a period I played mostly Dylan on my guitar.

Saw a youtube vid a bit back where Dylan appeared on the first episode of The Johnny Cash Show in the late 60s. Good stuff it was. I'm going to have to get into some of his music. I'm always on the lookout for older new to me tunes.

Me too. That's one reason Iike this thread and its earlier iterations, so much good stuff I might not come across is posted. Right off I'd recommend Blood On the Tracks and Desire

ETA the Biograph set is easily accessible and has some great recordings on it

Will definitely check it out. Like right now as I've got nothing better to do. Folks are asleep and I'm just into my headphones.

I'm just doing the 1 am ceftriaxone injection and listening to some tracks from Desire

ETA love the lines from Joey: Always on the outside of whatever side there was, when they asked him why he had to be that way, he answered Just Because

My friend, you sound like you're going through it right now. Unknown with who, but that's not important to me. HE knows and that's all that matters on my end. Saying a prayer for ya. These Dylan songs remind me of my Dad.
Thank you, my friend. We do what we have to do. I'm happy those songs bring you good memories.

I agree with Pygmy on Blood on the Tracks ... it is one of my all-time favorite albums by anybody. Here is a sample ...

If in the mood for another favorite album of mine ... check out Fire and Water, by Free ... see what you think. I LOVE it !!!

Also this guy, Blaze was so talented. What a hard luck story, what a sad story. Talk about hard luck. Reminds me of myself without the talent.

What a song. If only I could play this for Leanna and she would listen.
