That would make me smile

Though loafers will have an easier time making a hire this time.

Dan Mullen is a lot better off at Florida than he would be at Houston. Jason Garrett is available if Houston wants an experienced NFL coach.

Good fit I think.

Mullen wouldn't take the Houston Job.

The Texans will have to be a rebuild. O'Brien traded away 2021 1st and second draft picks and the best offensive weapon for Magic Beans. And they are over the Salary Cap.

I expect the next Coach and Gm will trade Watson, Tunsil, Watt, And whoever else they can get value for.

There are too many holes to fill, with no high draft picks and no contributors from the last draft.

I disagree. I don't think it's a rebuild. They got plenty of talent. IMO, they are in the same boat as the Cowboys. Trash coaching.

Enough talent to be better than 0-4 but not enough to overcome the situation O’Brien put them in. I think the salary cap is in a bad place and they have no draft capital. In my opinion, they were nothing better than 9 win team, at best. Not a good place for a team that does not have any cap space to add a big free agent and no draft picks to add a impact cheap player.

Mullens isn't going anywhere! Unfortunately he's about to build an empire at Florida, check out the new facility they are building. He will have every recruit in the south wanting to cut a record in the new gator rap studio.

Based on what I read on the State message boards when he was here there is no way Mullen can possible build an empire at Florida. As posted over and over he could not win the big ones or recruit, and on top of that he wore shorts to a game proving that he does not take coaching as seriously as he should!***

I still think we're closer to being right than we are to being wrong on that. If we're really talking about an "empire", he needs to:
1. Beat Georgia
2. Get to Atlanta
3. Beat Alabama when he gets there

And probably more than once.

Until he does that, he's Mark Richt, a really great coach that could never quite reach the lofty goals that his fanbase expected. I mean... This is a fanbase that saw 4 straight SEC titles (and 6 out of 10) and a second year coach win the National Championship.

He's still a new coach at Florida. Give him this new facility and the same amount of time he had at state and you dont think he can make FL a powerhouse? 3 more years and he will be 1- beating Georgia 2- getting to ATL.... It's 3 he's going to have a hard time with but i do think they will be the new bama in years to come.

The GM was worse than the coach.

The Cowboys have a elite RB(top 10) and a elite WR (top 5). The Texans have a RB ranked 27th averaging 3 yards a carry, that they gave away the NFL's #1 WR for. Adrian Peterson was taken off waivers, and is far better than David Johnson.

The Texans best WR is ranked 28th in the NFL this year. The Cowboys 4th best pass catcher is 29th.

Dallas has all their 2021 draft picks to strengthen any weaknesses in the defense.

The Texans traded away Rounds 1, and 2. And have no contributions from the 2020 Draft class.

As bad a coach as O'Brian was, he was 1000x worse as a GM.
Outside of Watson, Where is the talent?

Get back to us when Mullen wins a big game.

If Mullen has aspirations of coaching NFL ball, Houston would not be a bad place. I wonder if Mullen looks at Kingsbury and thinks he can do better. The consensus was Arizona was making a huge gamble after a mediocre college coaching career re Kingsbury. Kingsbury has Arizona balling out.

He took Mississippi State to #1 in the country. He can do just about anything. That space between "can" and "do" is a chasm, though.

They are 2-2 coming off back to back losses to Detroit and Carolina. I wouldn’t exactly call that balling out.

Outside of maybe the Raiders hiring Lane Kiffin, the Kingsbury hire in Arizona is the most puzzling NFL head coaching hires I've ever seen.

Now that I've said that, at least Kiffin came from a winning program to the NFL. Kingsbury finished above .500 twice in 6 years.

The Carolina game was a stinker, but it is hard to win an NFL game. Kingsbury and Arizona last year were competent when I saw them lose to the Saints. They are building some talent there. Hopkins, Murray, Jones, etc. The NFC West is fierce.

Kingsbury is 7-12-1. And yeah, the win over the 49ers is impressive. But 1-2 vs. 3 of the worst teams in the league isn't.

Zero chance Mullen builds the new Bama. He sucks at heads up recruiting for elite talent so much so that he doesn't even attempt it. He also sucks at heads up matches vs elite coaches. Mullen coaches super conservative in huge games. He'll always revert to that when he's intimidated. You can't coach scared and be the next Bama. Won't happen.

No he won’t. He won’t even out recruit Georgia as long as Kirby is there. He won’t even win his division most of the time.
