That actually would be a perfect fit for him. He can recruit in the 20s and they'll be happy. He'll do more with less. Easier conference.

Read an article last week about how Richmond area recruits have been leaving the state of VA in droves and Fuente turned off coaches and barely recruited there. Mullen doesn't mind recruiting his own state, so I think he'd be just fine getting most of his roster from VA.

I think VT and Mullen would be a perfect fit actually.

Mullen could do a good job at Virginia Tech.

He’d need to tone down the belligerence some though.

UVA did help Virginia Tech get into the ACC after all. Granted the Governor’s office might have lobbied UVA’s President too.

I agree. I think he could be good there. He was never a good fit for Florida.

Wouldn’t be the first time he’s tried to get that job.

He needs to take a year off and reevaluate what he wants to do. Him firing Big Hevy and Grantham just illustrates that he's not sure where this got away from him.

If he wants to take the next step beyond above average, he's got to quit calling plays and micromanaging. He can still be heavily involved in the offense and specifically QB, but he's got to take a more big picture role. Not a CEO totally, but closer to that.

It's time for him to realize that his true talent is X's and O's. He is not built to relate to the media or to the vast majority of modern society. He's at a point in his life where he's coordinator material and that's about all, at the D1 level anyway.

Can't win at Florida doesn't usually lead to success at your next stop. I hope VT doesn't fall for the bait. I like VT and want them to do well.

If that's the route he wants to go, he needs to go to the NFL.

Yeh, try selling to the fan base that you’ve hired a super coach - that was just fired from one of the premier jobs in the land because his program tanked in the space of a year. I don’t see Mullen getting a power 5 gig this year.

Yep. Go rehab with Kirby or Saban and in one or two years you end up with a better job than you possibly deserve.

Nice campus, very beautiful in the fall. School has a lot of traditions (2 bands, turkey legs, etc.). He would be a good fit there, but they have expectations, too. Don't know he would do better than Fuente.

Virginia Tech will probably go with someone not getting fired for under performance which is what they just did.

Is VT ok with 8 wins a year? They fired a guy for doing just that…and that’s what Mullen will do there.

I think Mullen ends up at a BC, Maryland, Indiana, Illinois type school that is usually near the bottom of their conference where he can come in and get some favorable scheduling and win 6-8 a year.

Sounds about right. He will end up somewhere but I would take a year off if I were him.

His talent is development. He’s not bad at X’s and O’s, but he hasn’t been particularly creative in a while.

Firing hevesy wasn’t a bad move. Hevesy is an absolute Dick and a huge liability recruiting.

Mullen is a good fit at a decent “name” school that doesn’t give a **** about football. Somewhere left of left, like Cal or UCLA, or maybe even Virginia.

I think Virginia Tech cares too much about football to hire Mullen.
