I know it`s been discussed before so save the German jokes. Exactly who is the guy that I see within inches behind Mullen on the sideline every time he gets into with a ref AND exactly why is he there ?

He's director of football operations. He's basically mullens right hand man. He does whatever Dan says and is in charge of like scheduling practices, team hotel/travel, meals, and anything else operational that comes with a football team. And during a game, his job is to keep Dan off the field and pull him away from refs, and yell at Stricklin when Mullen wants the 1985 baseball team off the field so Mullen doesn't chew him out because they were on his field when play was supposed to resume.

That`s him. He was there last night. He almost appears to be there in case Mullen loses control of himself. May be a common situation on college football sidelines for all I know and I just have never noticed it. It just has a strange appearance to me.

All teams must have an assigned asst coach to be the coaches sidelines enforcer. Usually iys the asst strength coach.

Yea I`m very aware of that but this guy ain`t an assistant coach and I`ve never seen him do anything but shadow Mullen on the sideline. It gives the appearance that Mullen has a very bad temper and doesn`t have the kind of relationship with any of his assistants that would allow them to tell him to calm down and get his **** together if he blew up.
