With Murray gone and probably Ulis, the Cats are going to need some punch from the perimeter. Early indications are that Monk can shoot and Fox can't, though that might be premature to judge. Willis will be an asset and maybe Gabriel.

But the Cats could use one of those instant offense guys other programs seem to have, who is money from the 3.

Mulder didn't look ready at all for high D-1 play this year. But, in fairness, he didn't get that many minutes to prove himself. He had no confidence in his shot, but he had a history as a very good outside shooter. He hit something like 48 percent at a good JUCO. He's never going to be a great defender, but he's quick enough to be average.

I hope he pleasantly surprises us -- and no, I don't mean by transferring and opening up the scholarship.

I hope Briscoe puts in the work and at least develops a more reliable mid range jump shot and works on his free throws then he would be a great help to the team.

I think Hawkins will likely get more playing time than Mulder next season although I know Mulder has more reputation for the 3 ball.

I think if Dom is not a liability on offense and hits a decent amount of his open looks (30 to 33%), Cal will give Mulder's minutes to Hawkins.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me if Mulder gets some extra "tick" next year. I'd love to see him make a legitimate claim to deserving some playing time based on his play.

With only 2 guards in our recruiting class, one has to think Cal has a plan. Maybe he expects Gabriel or DWill to be able to play the 3 or maybe he expects a lot out of Matthews next season or he expects briscoe to return.

Maybe that plan involves Mulder as I do think there will be times when we need some outside shots to fall, but I would say Briscoe, Hawkins, Matthews then Mulder. Don't expect to see him much next season.

Fox can shoot. He's not Murray or Ulis but he can shoot. Willis, Monk, Gabriel, and Fox will be our shooters. Mulder will not see much time next year

Mulder will never see quality playing time until he learns to play defense. Every time he got in the game this past year his man scored driving to the basket.

Willis is the only 3pt threat we have so far. None of the incoming frosh have reps as shooters. Im talking 3 pt range.

Mulder needs to be given a real shot. His upside from beyond the arc can replicate the difference Willis has when he entered the starting lineup. Give him a semi- long leash, have him run off screens & see what he can provide w/ extended minutes.

Think Mulder might be the one to leave if we need to make room for Bolden as he will not play again next year at all . Fox , Monk and Briscoe will play most of the guard minutes with Hawkins the main back up . MAtthews behind him,.

Mulder will not be given anything. He's going to have to work on his weaknesses and earn his opportunity and then perform. He was a terrible defender this year which is why he didn't play much and he's never going to get a semi-long leash at UK. Not with our roster.

Oh god. Of course nothing should be handed to him. All im saying is he needs to be given a real opportunity to win a rotation spot, because he didnt get one last yr, thats for sure.

He barely played enough to judge how bad he was on defense, so stop making him out to be worse than he is on that end.

Its annoying how Cal + most UK fans would rather have a offensive liability on the floor than a defensive one. You can hide a bad defender. A offensive zero hurts everybody around him even if he never touches the ball.

It's also annoying when people on message boards think they know more than Calipari. He was in practice every day, I think that's plenty opportunity to judge whether one is good defensively or not. If he performed well in practice, he would have gotten more opportunities in games.
