I try to rely specifically on eye test when it comes to hoops and not just a couple of stats........but one of the most difficult things to achieve for hoops stat gurus, is the 50/40/90 status, which is almost unheard of, unless you are that type of player.....But Mulcahy is on a significant streak and I know the NW game was a true launching point, but I went back a little further, because it cements the change and how that impacts winning.
The 50/40/90 in hoops is
50% FG or better from the field.
40% 3 point FG or better from deep.
90% or better from the FT line.....
Paul is pretty much almost or exceeding in 2 categories, but cleaning up in others, since the Seton Hall game.
Last 15 games for Paul.
66/123 FG overall.....53.7%
17/39 3 PT shooting...43.6%
22/26 FT shooting....84.6%
In last 15 games, RU is 11-4....
Mulcahy....
10.73 PPG
4.47 Rebounds
6.40 Assists
I won't continue to repeat the overall impact on Cliffs FG percentage, dunk rates and how that has a demoralizing impact on a defense. Paul is fulfilling the potential seen at Gill St Bernard where he took on Scottie Lewis (Florida) vs Ranney at Kean University a few years ago. With Paul playing with more awareness of time and score, he's attacking and it's elevating the entire roster.
It's just 15 games, but to get anywhere close to 50/40/90, for any extended stretch of games, deserves specific attention and congrats to Mulcahy.
Since the road Nebraska win, he's raised his PPG overall for the season from 6.7 to 9.1 PPG....it's very difficult to jump scoring up almost 3 PPG, in less than a month.
Lots of encouraging signs on the horizon folks.....I think with the way Baker and others share the ball, everyone gets better looks, better shots and increases confidence....starts with Mulcahy stepping up on offense......and Caleb becoming dominant on defense.....
