Mulcahey is a great facilitator, but he needs to learn that he can take the shot.
If he isnt a good shooter why do we want him to shoot it

Sample size? He's shooting .579 from 2P range in conference play (3rd highest on the team), but only taking 1.7 of those attempts per game. He may be playing really tight - like only playing AJ or better in poker. Not saying he should start bombing away from three, but he needs to start converting some of those deep paint touches into points instead of getting in there only with an intent to pass.
Sample size?
Mulcahy needs to play less. Right now a liability on both offense and defense.
I haven't seen those smarts in a while.dont agree. again, this is a simpleton view on things. if you're saying that his 1v1 defense on smaller quicker PG/SG is subpar...fine. but his size and smarts allows us to play a help defense scheme where he ends up doubling the opposing teams big men, and he can then seamlessly transition to a PG on offense. How many kids can do that for a team? Very few.
Stop focusing on the simple things and ask yourself why he's getting as many minutes as he's getting.
And btw, I do agree he's struggled the last few games. But so have RHJ and Geo. You want to drop all their minutes?
this has happened with Pike's teams the past few years...they'll rebound and bounce back
count on it.
He has a high basketball IQ,but is little threat to shoot & score,& is slow afoot.RHJ & Geo can potentially score and always defend. They succeed & we do.They have to play, even if limiting minutes somewhat.dont agree. again, this is a simpleton view on things. if you're saying that his 1v1 defense on smaller quicker PG/SG is subpar...fine. but his size and smarts allows us to play a help defense scheme where he ends up doubling the opposing teams big men, and he can then seamlessly transition to a PG on offense. The recipe for success is our defense and winning 50/50s. The best way to do this is by keeping everyone in the 20s.
Based on what I see....
1. Baker 28 Paul 12
2. Young/Mathis 40 (20 each?)
3/4 RHJ, Yeboah Caleb 27 27 26
5 Johnson Shaq 40

I am fine with essentially an 8 man rotation, with PM on the bench unless foul trouble.
The way he's been playing, I might drop Baker to 20 and put Young/Mathis up to 24-25 each.
Is Baker hurt?
If not, play him 25+.
Regarding Young and Mathis......
1. Not a fan of both of them on the court together offensively
2. They need to be SUPER fresh defensively. I want them playing in 4 minute bursts.
