Just saw where Jefferson Forest is the Massey Ranked 16th ranked high school football team in all of Virginia!
Can another Miracle Occur?
Can lighting strike twice for the same team?

At least the RPI should go up. Just hope we come out healthy if no miracle happens.

Watauga ain't the Watauga that won a state championship last year but Mt. Airy beating them now makes me think this could be a tighter game. Still gotta go w/ JF playing at home. I think they are the better team. Your prediction of 21 sounds about right.

If you can stop Mason you shut down the entire team only player we have
No one has been harder on Mt Airy and it's this year's season than I have, BUT if you measure the other Mt Airy players against other 2A-3A-4A team's players the Bears have some pretty good players.
However, I believe the real problems the Bears have is :
1, no depth at all past starters, and smaller numbers than in recent years also (I believe).

2. Mt Airy is having to depend on young inexperienced players in some key roles

3. We have gotten so use to having generational talent for a small school, it is hard for us fan to realize the well is not always overflowing with talent.

4. The coaching staff is doing the best they can with what they have, But we do not 'yet' have a JK Adkins, a Kelly Holder, or a Hollingsworth. Remember JK was not JK in his first several years as a head coach at South Iredell or Patton. He was building and rebuilding programs, especially at East Wilkes. But sometimes it is harder to maintain a program than sustain one when you have a very young coaching staff.

Mount Airy will get there over the next several years, I feel sure of it. I even think we COULD, not saying we will, But Could win out the rest of the regular season.

After seeing Starmount win over Mt Airy in week #1, and watching West Stokes pull one out over Community School of Davidson last night, the Wildcats may be a test for the Granite Bears in conference action.

It's according to the Bears secondary. West has good offensive line and good speed at receiver. Also the transfer from Mt Airy has been impressive especially at running back. I think this game decides conference champ even though rpi is only thing that matters.

Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the Bear eats you!
Same for the portal and this year Mt Airy got nothing from the portal and gave up a fair amount.

It will not surprise me if West Stokes comes out on top of this game, whenever it is. Mt airy has one injury to recover from that I know of, not sure how bad it is.
Mt Airy is so thin in personal they cannot handle many injuries that are long lasting.
Even where the Bears are starting a senior, that does not mean the senior has a great deal of experience.

I believe it was that in-experience that contributed large to "giving away" the Starmount game (and yes Starmount stepped up and took advantage of that inexperience).

Mt Airy has an opportunity to show up and grew up a lot next week at 6A St Stephens. They had no chance from the start at Jefferson Forest and their 11, yes 11, D1 commits. This coming Friday they have a chance to play a much larger school but on an almost level playing field. I think they will do just fine.

Yes I expect the Bears to bounce back and win against St Stephens.

I am sure I will get accused of Mt. Airy bashing, but 11 D 1 commits are un heard of. So I simply googled it and here was the answer And I guess Piedmont is a D1 school, neither signing an a big time school. I guess you didn’t specify football either, so statement is fact.
LET the bashing begin.

when headlines reported "11 Jefferson Forest student-athletes sign NLI," only one or two were football players (such as Logan Candis signing with VMI and Carson Bonnette signing with Piedmont).

Good luck the rest of the way.

I was repeating what our people were told in the press box by the fine folks from Jefferson Pilot.

I am SportsNut 17, but your continued put down of Mt Airy and its fans is just a whole lot too much.

You said "I am sure I will get accused of Mt. Airy bashing, but 11 D 1 commits are un heard of".
You please look at any of the Charlotte Observer reports leading up to and including reporting of the game between Hough and Providence Day.
Then report how many D1 players, not D2 or D3 players were on the field.

Unheard of. Nope,
Just another pile of your wide open in your face put downs of anything Mt Airy over the years, and it continues to this very day. A day when Mt Airy is struggling to find its way in a year when they are not loaded with college type players.

Shame on you.
