Well I may be a "dumbass idiot" but I am not snowballing. I left Wytheville a little concerned. I hope I am wrong and Mt Airy has everything it needs to make a great run. Maybe my expectation for where we would be this year is a little too high. But I believe we lost more defensively than I had previously thought.Hey guys. As I read you're doom and gloom I wonder if you're just snowballing or if you are actually serious. Last year at this time I saw two scrimmages I saw us scrimmage and I saw you guys scrimmage. Coming away from them last year I thought wow we're going to have a much better defense than Mount airy. Mainly because Mount airy let George wythe run all over them. And we played good defensively. Boy was I wrong we got scored on often Mount airy gave up 18 points. So I sit here today and I look at these Mount airy fans saying that their defense is going to struggle. Particularly the buzz coach guy. Who we all know just sits in the stands and talks a bunch of junk. He is no fan of Mount airy people I'm a little concerned about the other fella because i think he usually is positive. This year I went to two scrimmages. Our scrimmage the night before in Mount airy's scrimmage yesterday. I saw them not get scored on by George wythe and I saw the ridgeview team who had a 3000 yd passer and a 1000 yard rusher and a massive line. And a semifinals spot I believe in 1A in Virginia last year. They ran the ball for maybe 20 yards in nine plays with their ones. And through a touchdown that looked like offensive pass interference way badly for the loan touchdown that they scored on Mount airy all day. So basically what I'm saying is you guys that are reading out there these two idiots don't know what the hell they're talking about. Mount airy may get a bunch of scores up against them this year. But if it last year is any indication besides Mitchell that's the best team I've seen Mount airy play. And in about 45 offensive plays they scored up one touchdown. Anyway take mine with the grain of salt. If you would like I'm a little more worried about us now against Mount airy. Then I was this time last year. Actually I'm a whole lot more worried. so I hope the Mount airy guys on here are snowballing you. Or they're just dumbass idiots. One of the other. Those are my two cents. Looking forward to week two. Although not quite as much as I was.although not quite as much as I was.
Boaz will pick everybody apart at least I hope so. What I'm saying is your characterization of that scrimmage was wrong. I don't see why you would be concerned. I'm concerned that Boaz won't pick y'all apart. Unless he can do it in one or two seconds. That's what I'm concerned about. Except for the one play where the receiver pushed off they were hardly any balls completed. And a ton of past breakups. So I did not see what you saw. I saw a pass rush that was successful every time except for one. I saw two corners that were locked down. And the younger brother of the kid from last year taking care of anything else. I just felt like the way you described it was ridiculous. But if you're that worried then go ahead.Well I may be a "dumbass idiot" but I am not snowballing. I left Wytheville a little concerned. When I "snowball" I try to do it with a significant amount of tongue in cheek so that it should be readily apparent that I am "poormouthing". Not last night. I came away believing Mt Airy Coaches, whom I think are absolutely top notch, will have to pull a rabbit out of their hat or Mr Boaz from East Surry will absolutely pick us a part. Yes I saw some very positive things and said so. But I also saw some things of concern and said so.
I hope to see one and all at North next Friday night. Do I need to wear a "dumbass idiot" sign ? LOL
Go look at them up front. Yes, they lost some guys but they are big, strong and nasty up front. Luke Brown will be a big time target for Boaz plus I hear that through Chris Griggs they have a stud skill guy who moved in from Minnesota. The Cards ain't in no rebuilding mode.Lowmans last year will be this season rumor has it ES lost alot especially up front. But they will be coaches up with what's left
I don't think we're in a rebuilding mode either. We're just not as good as we have been. I would hardly call that kid a stud. He's no gosnells or Isaiah He's a little scat back who will help them for sure. But he's really no better than the kid that was running back for East Wilkes or the kid that's the running back for North Surry. Our big thing is going to be Boaz and getting him time to throw or run.Go look at them up front. Yes, they lost some guys but they are big, strong and nasty up front. The second game will be interesting for NS with former coach on the sidelines for West stokes offensive coordinator. While I am a true blue Bear fan and supporter, I do have a small but definite element of support for North Surry. As I have stated on this site many times, my older son transferred to North from Mt Airy his junior year some 20 plus years ago. He won the Charlie Adkins Award his Senior year and got a full ride as a running back to college that would never have happened at Mt Airy.
Having said all that, I do hope North goes 9 and 1 each year. But that one should be Mt Airy. I would hope that North turns their program around and becomes a force again. But I do not know how they can ever do that if they do not have fan support in attendance, money raised, vocal support, etc.

Seems like on the other post about NS, only @Slasher Killer and @greydog86 really said anything. Wonder what their thoughts are with the game.
And he could be the most dependable ground gainer, maybe or maybe not the most yards gained, but when we need 2 to 4, he will get us 10 to 20 or more.Caleb Reid should be a beast at LB also
Well now I know why all I hear is crickets.
Most do (motion activated cameras). Not sure why the NS feed is stationary and only shows 30-30, but itās frustrating for sure!First time using the NFHS network, does it not move? Just stay on the 30 to 30?
JD just not showing ES anything or NS is just that good this year and MA only has 8 seniors & ES has 21 seniors, so we'll know what to expect next week. LOLNS looks good Jackson out coaching JK right now
I'm here! Go Bears!
