Williams vs Bridges- I like giving Williams a challenge, and Bridges is too strong for Thiam.
Omoyuri vs Jaren-Jackson Jackson fouls the most, and Omoyuri has proven adept at taking the biggest defender, and also being able to draw charges.
Freeman versus Ward

Game notes- Try to force fouls on Jaren Jackson, and make MSU play outside their top, and best five. They have a lot of size, average 86.5 points a game, and allow 62.5 points from opponents. First off the bench is Thiam and Doucoure. Like others said, let Doucoure come off the bench, be a little more settled, play within himself without the starter pressure.

I'm curious, last year we beat the Ohio State team by 9 pts., this year the Ohio State team beat Michigan State by 16 pts., and yet there are many here that predict a blow out with Michigan State. Have they become super human, God like. Logic please, or is this board just filled with a bunch of girly boy's?
We might get blown out, but we could also win. To predict a blowout, with us being on the receiving end is just plain unfanlike(I know, just made it up). If we the fans start predicting blowouts, what are the players going to think, with this lack of support?

In the first game Rutgers jumped out to an early 11-0 lead I think (maybe 8-0? Can’t remember). Anyway lost by 10. So a 20-point turn around. Add to the fact that MSU is at home so subtract 10 points from us and add it to them, plus 10 points against us since it’s B1G refs. Given that, it’s about a 40-point turn around from a 10-point loss. So,

I would like to see Corey play selfish in this one. Everybody will complain about the forced shots and drives but for every force you get one that goes down or draw a foul. Which is a better percentage than other options.

Rutgers has been there before. Looking back, none of MSU stars had awful games. Rutgers performed the non-negotiables better. They got Jaren Jackson in foul trouble. Sanders had a 6 pt scoring game. What happens when he is locked in, and shots fall for him a little?

Can they do it again?

"Better percentage"???? Sorry, but Corey is just not that good. He is basically a very good schoolyard player. And, if that goes against your here worship of him I apologize, just the way I see it.
The way to beat this team, and any other team we play is really a simple methodology, but hard to execute consistently. In your face Defense, box out, rebound on both sides of the court, and make simple layups, 80% from the foul line, and hit the open 15 footers.
Corey alone, cannot carry this team, even when he has his best game.

Corey hasn't carried this team to wins? lol
the only Big Ten starter caliber player on the entire team. is his shooting percentage good? no, it's not. is the ball in his hands more often then not when the other MAAC level players can't get themselves open or pass up on shots? do you seriously watch the team?

and the rest of the team can't shoot so whatever you said about layups, free throws and 15 footers isn't happening with this roster.

Who guards Bridges with this starting lineup?

I worry about all 5 guys, especially Winston knocking down 3s. Williams and Eugene would be the 2 guys that I'd think we see on him. Part of me likes Freeman on him, like the concept of him having to step it up on D and being a focus. He did a great job on Happ (totally different player) to start the game.

The matchup that scares me is Duocoure on Nick Ward.

Lose by 12. 72-60... saw Freeman post he was sick on his IG. So we should see Eugene get lots of Burn if he looks off.

The only path I see to keeping this a game with 5 minutes left involves Corey have a huge impact.

Kind of agree - Corey needs to have a huge game to keep this competitive. After their horrible loss to OSU, we should be afraid, very afraid. Will be happy to keep it under 20.

On the bright side..that logic didn't hold true for Hartford. the Stony Brook loss didn't exactly get our attention.

I'd love to see a study on how teams bounce back after disappointing losses. Is there any difference? The hot hand theory has been sort of disproven.

Omoyuri. I also think Williams could give him a shot. In every good game Rutgers has had, a combination went after their best player. For Bridges, you rotate Omoyuri and Williams on him.

Say what you want about Sanders, but it is hard to say he is not clutch. He plays to the level of opponent. That stunk against Stony Brook and Hartford. In conference play, it sounds good.
