MSU line still dropping

The VI consensus opened at NU -7 and then dropped and stayed at -4 for awhile. It's now down to NU -3 with a couple of places going to NU -2.5. The over/under sits at 45.5, signaling a prediction of both teams scoring in the low 20s.

I don't follow MSU that closely, but I haven't seen any significant news from their camp. They are still not announcing whether Thorne or Russo will get the start. It looks like they'll have a lot of transfers in the 2 deep - the RB from Wake Forest, Walker, seems to be doing well.

Seems like it's been ping-pong-ing back and forth between 3.5 and 4.5 for about the past month. I would assume gamblers think it's going to be a close, lower scoring game decided by a FG, which is probably why more money has come in on MSU (certainly when it started at more than a TD) to cover a 3.5 - 4.5 spread.

Even if I was a gambler, I don't think I'd ever mess with a game in the first week of the season.

Early season college football lines present good betting opportunities because of the lack of information particularly on teams that have a lot of changeover, which both MSU and NU do. Not surprisingly, the betting public lacks respect for NU football. What's new? Lay the points and take the Cats all day.

Let it keep dropping. I hope MSU is favored by kickoff. Makes our win sweeter.

I like us as favs.
Most impressive to me is that we didnt have a QB controversy. Thats HUGE because we have some good ones and the fact that Hunter has actually seperated himself should be seen as incredible.
And with a great OL coach and seasoned OC, i think our offense will be a competitive yet conservative model to win games.
Yea we dont have doc but fitz has always had conservative play on defense so im thinking more bend but dont break.
With smart players, we force 10+ possessions that risk penalties and fumbles for an undisciplined opponent.

At least we don't have to face Rocky Lombardi.

I'm still having nightmares.
Bad game plan against Lombardi. We needed to protect 🙏against the deep ball. Lombardi wasn't going to hurt us dinking and dunking it. Still, congratulations on an amazing season. The wins against Iowa and Purdue were excellent.

The plays that haunt me are the 3rd down plays where Lombardi scampered for the first down. We made him look like a gazelle.

Corso just picked MSU to win straight up so the Cats are a lock to win. Take it to the bank!

In my Fandom lifetime, they've won two games where the opposing coach went for 2 late in the game and missed. Two wins. I'm OK with that kind of won. (Sort of balances out "fastball")

That guy has awful picks. I think he was 1-11 one year. He just having fun though, i never have been convinced of his reasoning. Herbstreit is usually spot on though.

Corso is an addled tit. His envy of Northwestern's success is sooo thick you could grill it.

“Corso is an addled tit.“ Great turn of phrase. Your second sentence Is strong as well.

I agree about the QB non-controversy. I'm not sure that it matters who gets picked but I think that whole thing of visualization, like when a BB players stands at the line and visualizes the ball going in the hoop, has something to it. The whole offense has been visualizing the timing and even the cadence of the one guy and I think that will help.

I think part of the falling line is how much it is being mentioned that NU has very few super Srs and Srs relative to most other teams. Experience matters.
