The new road "Bulldog Way" will be interesting. Where will it connect to Blackjack with Campus Trails in way? I am assuming it would connect somewhere west of Aspen Heights

There isn't a single thing in that article that will be done on time. Nothing.

My understanding is they will reconstruct Campus Trail entrance and the new Bulldog Way will go where the former entrance to CT currently is.

Let me find the link to last week’s thread about tuition tripling over the last 20 years

That seems to be most logical route from Blackjack to the intersection of Lee/Bailey Howell

Seems like with tennis getting the new indoor facility and the Kinesiology department getting a new building, then that opens up McCarthy Gymnasium for demolition. It certainly sits on a prime piece of real estate.

Money comes from a variety of places.....

Where is all this money coming from?

the College View project is a public/private agreement, i believe. this means a private company builds the building and recieves part of the rent, while MSU runs logistics of the building (Housing staff, recruiting residents, etc.) and gets some part of the rent as well.

Most academic buildings are built on loans/bonds that are paid off over time.

Parking's budget comes from parking passes and athletics using parking lots, i believe. I know they don't receive funds from the state and rely completely on the money they bring in from passes for both students and faculty/staff.

I would imagine some of the tuition/fees helps with payments, but not all.

I would love to see them remove the Hump and Palmeiro Center which obscure Dudy Noble to really make DNF stand out (landscape architects speak up!).

The Hump, DNF, Palmeiro, Seal, Shira, track, tennis, and softball are too congested. Buy that land East of Sanderson and let’s clean all this up.

It’s starting to remind me of another college campus where they just haphazardly stack buildings on top of each other with no coherency, and claim it’s the most beautiful.

Yep, no need for McCarthy once those two buildings are finished. I would imagine another academic building goes there, but who knows.

When I played tennis in there my senior year. It was totally infested with fleas.

I was told a road or road outlet to relieve some of the parking congestion next to McCarty. Heard from a couple of folks but could be just talk.

They can't do that. Bailey Howell and Pete Maravich played in that gym. **

On the aerial photo, there's something called the "social campus". What is that?

McCarty Architects of Tupelo seems to be getting a lot of design business. Are they primarily MSU grads? And it looks like construction contracts are with Mississippi companies. Nice to see them keeping the work at home.

There is a LOT of work being done on campus.

Not to be overly simplistic but it seems logical to take the Lee/BaileyHowell intersection and just run the road on the perimeter of whatever land MSU owns or can reasonably get. Ring roads are not a new concepts and if all traffic flows in from one side instead of both it can assist with flow. You can then back fill in everything on the interior with what is desired be it parking or new buildings.

So much for the disc golf course. Might as well give the trophy back, I guess.***

Are they going to name the new poultry science building after "Chicken Thomas"? You had to have been there in those days to understand. He should have won the Nobel prize instead of Watson and Crick.

Is Campus Trails an apartment complex? It looks suspiciously like where I lived,

only it was called University Commons. It was brand new when we moved in.

Takes me back to the good old days of late night parties and total domination of walleyball in the pool.

Anyone else live there during the great Snowpocalypse of '92 (I think)? School was cancelled, but somehow I think we still played LSU at the Hump one of those nights... Or maybe those 5 years are all a little too hazy now.

Social Campus-One of many apartment complexes on Blackjack Road. Hence, the need for the new access road!

That was university commons back in the day. I was there for a couple of years. 94-96 I think.

How anyone can see all the construction over the last 10 years and argue that more parking isnt needed is beyond me.
It was terrible 20 years ago and without vertical parking, it will only continue to be worse.

Hopefully on campus transit has improved. I remember multiple kids would arrive late to classes because of the commute from where they were coming from on campus and there was no way to make it better.

I saw an article about this a couple of years ago. Besides intersecting with Lee and Baily Howell, the article also showed 3 feeders leading into campus at the locations I've shown.
