I think he would easily handle UT's press, but for some reason Stans doesn't play him nearly as much as I would.
I haven't been impressed with UT all season, and I think Varnado is due for a big game since UT doesn't have many big guys that should cause him problems.

bost is averaging 31 mpg for the year, 35 in sec play. seems stans is playing him fairly often. he actually averages more mpg in sec play (35.4) than anyone else (stewart is 2nd with 35.1).
your point is valid, though - his ability to beat UT's press will be key to our success. if we can beat the press, we'll get open looks at the 3 on the other end. i also think varnado matches up well with UT, and the other guys will be able to hold their own if necessary.

Im pretty sure it is Boss. I may have to check the archives, but I have read credible posters on here refer to him as Boss.
All kidding aside, in some of the games this year, Bost has been pulled in certain situations that I was wondering where he was. I don't think UT has anyone that can stay in front of Bost.

where bost was benched for a few minutes late in the game, because of a turnover or bad shot or something. i thought stans let him sit WAY too long. our best chances to score (in the half-court) are when bost starts out high, gets a high screen, then can penetrate, kick out, get to the rim, or hit the screener rolling to the basket.
the problem is when the ball goes into stewart's hands, bost might as well be on the bench. and that's probably what you're seeing - even though bost is in, we get the ball to stewart up top, and let him go to work - which usually ends up in (a) a brick, (b) an off balance fade away, or (c) both a and b.
that said, bost is only a freshman. i really think he takes games over next year. and i think stans is becoming more and more comfortable with him having the ball late in games.

Sure he takes a bad shot here and there, but I just think he gives MSU the best chance to win games.

However Turner needs to shoot more. He has a really nice pull up jumper from 15 feet or so that he needs to take more of. Stewart needs to shoot no more than 10 times a game unless he is really on. I don't think you want your point jacking a bunch of shots though.

Our "go to" guy for this year currently rides the bench in South Bend. In my opinoin, Phil has filled in incredibly well. But #25 is a 6'3" man playing the 4 spot. Hurry up and develop Romero Osby!!

Ben Hansbrough was never a go to scorer. He did fine standing on the wing waiting for a kick out from Jamont but he would be just as helpless as Stewart trying to create his own shot. Ravern is the one that should have gotten some of these last shot chances over Stewart because no one is going to block his shot and he is very good free throw shooter.
I just don't think there is enough effort to get him the ball down low on a consistent basis.

AU didn't really have anyone that could contain Varnado, and that should have been the focus. I don't think that was Stans fault though, because it appeared he kept telling the players to get the ball inside.
I just don't think the roles are clearly defined. Turner and Stewart can be solid players, but should not be the focus point of the offense. To me the offense should be centered around Boss and Varnado doing high screens with Ravern being the spot up shooter on the wing. I just think at the end of the night those 3 guys should be putting up the majority of the shots.
