MRA transfers.......

A guy I work with is a Football Referee for MAIS, he also does basketball and baseballand he was talking to one of the Prep's coaches last night and that coach told him that the Starting Running back for NW Ranking who rushed for 1600 yards is ineligible to play and he got into MRA. He also said that one of the starting Linebackers and second team full back for Madison Central transfered into MRA. All three will be able to play this season. Have any of you heard this and if true does MRA have a chance to take JA and Prep?

</div><div>MRA has taken a bit of heat for taking him, but he is a game changer. He would have been a dandy dozen player this year if he had his act straight. Do not know anything about the linebacker at Madison Central, but it would not surprise me.</div><div>

They beat a MHSAA playoff team in Scott Central 44-0 last year, and their spread offense has been able to put the points up against Prep and JA, but they can't stop them. Last year, MRA lost to JA 35-26 and then to Prep 45-28. Both scored indicate that its weaker defense, although the addition of a talent like Nash is probably good for at least another touchdown, and the ability to eat some clock.</div><div>

Nash was 70 percent of their offense, and Humphries was 25 percent. You have those two returning, you are in the talk for a deep run, without those two, NWR could finish sixth in the division.<div>
</div><div>Madison Central and Clinton are the probable 1-2. Murrah returns enough to finish third again. NWR almost lost to Vicksburg (won 42-40) last year and Jim Hill and Greenville (beat Clinton and lost to MC 43-36 last season)are showing improvement. Sixth is not out of the question.</div>

and he hasyoung, energetic coaches who seem to relate very well to high school aged kids.

Would you rather play for Bobby Hall or Forrest Williams? Some family's have decided to pay tuition and play for Forrest rather than play for free for Hall.

Whatever there past, as long as they do what it takes to stay at MRA I'm sure MRA will be glad to have them. MRA would not
take them had they been exspelled or officially kicked out of another school.

MRA has done extremely well in 7 on 7 this summer - winning the tourney at Brandon a few weeks ago and coming in second at Vanderbilt a week or so ago. Not sure what that means - we will see
very soon.

Forest Hill is in Region 3 with Terry, Brandon, Meridian.<div>
</div><div>Interestingly, Forest Hill went undefeated against JPS schools, but went 1-5 against everyone else last season.</div><div>
</div><div>Murrah is definitely a playoff team this year. Jim Hill will be battling for that fourth spot and first round game in Batesville with Vicksburg, Northwest Rankin and Greenville.</div><div>

But they could possibly move up when the next reclassification comes out for the 2012-2013 year.

The problem is that they have to tackle running backs with guys blocking.<div>
</div><div>No doubt they can throw and catch with anyone, but they have to fix that defense to even stand a chance with Prep and JA. Not saying they couldn't win a shootout with either of those teams, though.</div>

Defense could and will be better, but they weren't that bad "They beat a MHSAA playoff team in Scott Central 44-0 last year". The linebacker from MC is rumored to be one of the best, if not the best, defensive player that MC would have had on the team this year. Everyone that I have heard from say he was without any doubt the hardest hitter on the team.

They won a State Championship with several players recruited from MC back in the early 90's. They got busted, put on probation and many thought that would be the end of MRA. Obviously, they survived.

I don't know if MRA is recruiting those players or not. I can certainly understand not wanting to play for Bobby Hall without having to be paid. And let's be honest- Bobby recruits bump and giggle QB's from JA all the time. So, glass houses....

I've said it on here before, I wouldn't want my son to play for Bobby Hall if he was a QB. I like Forrest Williams, but I would probably send them to Ricky Black at Prep.

If there is a MAIS team that can knock of Prep and JA's monopoly, it's MRA. I think Hartfield Academy or whatever it's called could be pretty strong in a few years as well. I've heard that they want to join the MAIS, but as of now, they're 1A.

that MRA has gotten from MC, I can name two that have gone from MRA to MC, especially in baseball. The back and forth from these schools and JA and Prep will always exist. Just because MC is "free" does not mean that they don't recruit and steal like the privates do.........

I have not heard anyone mention "recruiting" players and I don't think Forest is doing that but "crootin" is a fickle term. Remember, Forest works forRichard"crootin" Dueasewho knows the rules as well as any.

From what I have seen is the the kid from NWR and 2 from MC left those schools for various reasons and MRA picked them up......nothing wrong with as far as MAIS is concerned.

While I can't swear to it, I am fairly certain that most, if not all, of the people that were associated with MRA football in the early 90's are gone.I know none of the current football coaches were there. All but one of them havebeen there less than2 years. What does the early 90's have to do with anything?

The LB who transferred is a program changer type of player. MC's defense will take a step back with the lossand MRA will make a leap forward with the addition. Offenses will have to scheme with him in mind.He hits like Ronnie Lott. He's a good kid and I'm sure his family wants what is best for him. The kid does not have an ego that needs to be fed and playing time was not an issue as he moved into the starting lineup as a soph. He will get less media exposure at MRA, but withvisits to camps, he'll get some interest from some schools. Someone told me he ran a sub 4.5 at a recentD1 camp. He's told others he was not happy at MC and did not like the new defense coaches.

Don't know much about the MC RB transfer other than it sounds to be a parent decision to move him out of MC. Good RB who hadsome potential to move into a starting role. He will be a good addition to MRA, but MC will be fineat the RB position.

Defense carried MC last year. Thisyear, it will have tobe the offense. Will be interesting to see if they can do it without a 220 lb FB and 220 lb QB and the loss of Despar.

Think that if MC can build some depth and getas many players as possible some field experience, the'll take a step back this year, but might help for next year. Incoming Soph poolis shallow and if they don'tfurther develop and provide experience to the Jr's, the next two years will be tough. Defense will most likely take a step back from last year and thevoiced reason will be learning a new scheme fromnew coaches. In reality, the loss of Mangum as DC will be the biggest reason. He reallyhad the players' support and planned to build depth and experience. Current outlook will be a "lot" of players watching from the sidelinesat practices and in games.Recipe for problems if the "starters" can't get it done as it will go from bad to worse throwing inexperience into the mix.

an opportunity to play for a coach that does not act, sound and dress like he's 12, then yes that is exactly what Forest offers.

Agree. I think as a parent, you are first and foremost looking out for the interest of your child. You can go to MC andcompete for time in 6A sports and get more local media exposure if you are successful.But the negatives are a less secureand structured learning environment as well as playing for the current head coach. He's a humorous guy and can win when he has the talent that fits his system, but struggles outside of hisdistrict (look at losses to Tupelo and Petal). MC will be a very successful program, but will not win a state championship until they start building depth.There is depth potential at MC, but we'll never know because there are too many players who are just there to stand on the sidelines not only at games, but at practice. Until this changes and depth is built, MC will not win a championship with that coaching philosophy. With the loss of the linebacker to MRA and lack of developed depth on defense, MC will win most games in their district because the competition is not that great, but will struggle outside of that and if they make the post season.

You can got to MRA and play for a young, energetic coach and have a good chance of being a starter. The negatives are less media exposure, but a more structured(uniforms) and secure (enclosed campus)environment. You also have a little more say so asa parent because you care paying the bill. If you want college interest, you will have to go to more camps and combines, but it can be done.

This will be an interesting year to see if MRA takes a step forward with some 6A talentand if MC'sstaff changes are a postive or negative. I hope both do well as it's best for the players.
