Mountaineers Prepped for Spring Finale
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (April 24, 2015) – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team wraps up its spring season at Ohio State on Saturday, April 26, at1 p.m., at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, in Columbus, Ohio.
The match is the Mountaineers’ second of the spring against a Big Ten opponent. WVU dropped a 1-0 decision to Maryland on April 12.
“Playing a team like Ohio State is a great way for us to end our spring season,” said Mountaineer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “They have a tradition of success there and a lot of special players, so I’m looking forward to seeing how we match up.”
WVU is coming off a 6-0 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on April 19. Freshman forward Heather Kaleiohi tallied two unassisted goals, pushing her team-best spring goal total to three. Also scoring against SFU were: freshman midfielder Carla Portillo, redshirt-freshman forward Amandine Pierre-Louis, junior midfielder Leah Emaus and junior defender Maggie Bedillion.
Junior Hannah Steadman and redshirt-freshman Michelle Newhouse combined for the shutout.
The Buckeyes, led by 19-year coach Lori Walker, do not release information on their spring matches.
