12 years and only 70 posts, do I get the award for least posts per year average?

You might not get that award but deserve this:

this was my 2nd handle here.. I think my first was my actual name.. but people are phreaks... so that had to end. then this name became known as "board police".. similar to AreYouNuts i'd imagine.. so I changed again.. just to see if the people who always responded negatively would change how they responded to my posts... that was a successful test.

My newest incarnation doesn't really do "board police" stuff... posts less frequently too.. can actually go a day or two without posting!

But everyone has it right.. join date here doesn't go back far enough. Many of us began with Shea on one or more boards. Exit 109, Greasetruck, etc. Hmm.. when did John take over from Keith?

I go back to the days when Swami 23 scoffed at the notion that RU would one day play meaningful football. But then again, some of our current posters share that view.

I remember him, not a very positive poster, that was before rivals, right?

Was with Scout when Mike & Big Dog started it. Had several sharp posters. Later switched to Rivals but had id issues for some time until gave up and created new one. Never one to say much, but lurk a lot since live out of state and look for fb info. Overall, go back to Shea days on some board.

In terms of Rivals.. it has to be the founder, Keith.

So the question is, who does he remember being around in the beginning?

Interestingly it is the negative guys I remember most.. MikefromLV (who, despite his negativity would offer to offer fans visiting Vegas some perks) .. RU72 (whose main concern seemed to be chatting it up in courtrooms in CT.. not wanting to look bad) .. I'm sure I'd remember some more but it is hard.. many names seem alike.

The guy hated Schiano to the point where it seemed personal. He was a HS assistant coach right? I think GS must have snubbed him at some point.

I think it's a futile exercise, since the dates don't actually go back to the pre-Rivals era, which some of us were around for.
+1

And many of u have had multiple names
ive been around since the site had "EXIT" in its name...like 1995

GOR - weren't you originally SameOldRutgers and 1766, before that (and you'd probably have the most posts w/o the name changes, which I think reset the post count)?

I agree MikefromLV, who was originally MikefromWO (who used that name when he would call in to KnightLine in the late 80s and 90s, before message boards; I was also a regular caller after games), and RU72 could both be very negative, but they were also two of the most knowledgable posters around - wonder what happened to them...

I slowed way down with the posts... but yeah.. that was me. Many of my posts have been on the CE board.. rarely post now. Alot of the early ones were "board police" type things like.. why did you start a new thread on this? And calling out trolls.. and there were so many of them.

And I may have the lowest NEW THREAD to POST ratio. I rarely create threads. I read and "contribute".

And I picked "SameOldRutgers" as a way to..

1) stop some jerk.. some jerk other than me.. from using such a negative name
2) test my theory about numbnuts reacting to my posts based purely on the previous handle
3) a futile attempt to make "Same Old Rutgers" mean a positive thing.. as in Rutgers Goes to a Bowl again.. Same Old Rutgers (maybe someday I can bring it back).

I'm back to try and prove out my longest continuous posting of Rutgers stuff on the internet. Years ago I ran something called Exciting Big east Pick'em Contest on rec.sport.footballcom. Thanks to Google I located my contest form from 1996. As it says it was the 5th year entry, so I'm back to 1991 and I was on that forum touting Rutgers years before that. I was the only poster touting Rutgers.

Here's the link:

R00lz. I can verify your Rutgers web site back to March 1995 when I started my Rutgers Football web site. I am pretty sure there were no more than 2 others at most.

I joined this board before there was a board or computers. Can anyone remember Dr. John Bateman. No matter whom else we played, he always feared Columbia most. It was his Alma Mater.

Based on the starting date for this board, I officially claim that victory for that....yes, yes, I know how tons of us go back to previous boards, but I think I got this........

I remember complaining on here when we lost to the Bedrock University Brontosaurus led by QB Barney Rubble and FB/MLB Fred Flintstone who played both ways.

E5fdny, my site started and ended in the 90's. At the time there really was not web resource for team info like the schedule roster results etc. So I created it until something better came along.
