I have no investment in this game but could completely empathize with the Arky fans. That sucks

This is the part of me that is glad I am not a coach. If I was Van Horn, Carson Shatty would never see the field again. It is inexcusable for a player to call off someone else who has the better bead on that, then overrun it.

That would be an overreaction on your part

The game is played by people, who make mistakes.

Yeah because that is an easy catch. The same guys that catch it on this board also coach it to where that play doesn’t matter! I’m amazed at the skill of some

Maybe. But it’s life. He would have to convince me beyond a shadow of a doubt that he didn’t throw the game. Momma Shatty sporting new implants? Yeah, I prefaced it by saying that this is why I’m glad I’m not a coach. No way could I trust a dude again after that. Especially since they will probably throw Able tomorrow and Arky won’t sniff a hit.

Oregon State has been doing this both games in this series, so it was fitting that it would be Arky's turn to flubber it up.

It really does matter when everyone is worried about who's gonna get the credit.

Shaddock will have nightmares for years on that play.

Yeah, cause when you try to throw a game, you're definitely going to wait till 2 outs in the 9th to misplay a ball that only had a 1/9 chance of being hit at you to begin with to do it. Honestly, unless you're a starting pitcher, I'm not even sure how 1 player could throw a baseball game to begin with.

Are you saying he didn't return for his senior year to wait until the last out of the second game of the championship series to have that 1/9 chance and then hope that the next two OSU batters drive in runs? Well if you say so...

The guy didn’t throw the game. He simply got overzealous and screwed it up. None of us know what he was thinking, but it appeared as if he wanted the glory of making the final out and instead screwed over his team mates. The first baseman should have made the play. It’s sucks for ****** shaddy and for the team. Maybe he is the hero tonight. Baseball can be cruel

I've seen major league players make similar mistakes. Not necessarily to lose the world series, but everybody makes mistakes. These guys are college players, not pros. I don't think there was any intent for personal glory, and certainly no mal-intent. He just screwed up.
