Most Frustrating Thing About Our Offense

To me the most frustrating thing about our offense is that we clearly can move the ball down the field when we absolutely have to but for the majority of the game it appears Rogers is scared to make any mistakes so he just keeps taking the check downs. Therefore we apply no pressure to the D. I can't imagine we're doing anything differently scheme wise in the final 10 minutes since Leach runs about 6 plays. The only difference is Rogers is finally forced to go downfield and guess what IT WORKS! I just wish he'd be more aggressive from the start.

Rogers missed multiple wide open receivers for TDs Saturday. They were walk in TDs and he never saw them. He lets the defenses eat him up.

That's what I can't understand. It's as if he doesn't look downfield at all until he's completely forced to do so.

I agree it's easy for us to see from the stands. But many times he's already making that decision to hit his check down by the time those guys come open. He's not anticipating them being open. I don't think it's so much that he's afraid to make those throws (probably a little) - but it's more that he's just young and inexperienced. He's got to learn to read the defense better and know when he's going to have that guy open 15-20 yards down field. I don't think that's going to happen overnight like we want.

It's easy for us to say guys are open - but he's a true sophomore looking at defenses dropping 8, and trying to predict where & when one of our 4 guys will be open. Costello was a senior QB with more than 25 starts, and he struggled with the drop 8 defenses so bad that he threw a pick on average every half.

I'm not excited about what we're seeing from Rogers yet, but if he's sitting here with more yardage but 8 INTs I don't know that we'd be any better than 2-2.
