NBA ratings are up and your statement comes a day after a conference finals 2OT classic which involved the MVP and a young player who is arguably the best athlete in the world and on the other side you've got the Knicks making a run. You or another poster did this with SB halftime shows and then I was like "actually ratings have increased and people are in fact watching..."

Just because you don't like something doesn't mean everyone else doesn't like it either lol.
I’ve heard all this before, and I’ve seen ratings for the NBA fall into laughable numbers. The NBA is probably the most boring product in all of sports, and most people I meet anywhere say the same thing when it comes up, online or in person. I’ve never met a die hard NBA fan anywhere these days especially over the last 15 years, most ratings are driven by gambling. It’s one of the reasons so many associated with the league pushed it so hard.

Of course talent is there, it’s always been a league of skilled basketball players. It’s just the personalities are awful, there’s no faces of the franchise, it’s gotten to the point where it’s just something to do and gambling viewers. The league itself is pretty trash, especially compared to how popular it was in the 80’s and 90’s. You couldn’t go anywhere without finding huge NBA fans. Now, majority of guys are meh. It’s not really debatable. Did you live through how popular it was in the 80’s and 90’s? It’s not even close today. Gambling viewers or not, and the viewership has been drastically reduced at different times. Remove gamblers and you won’t have big numbers at all.

Will you actually sit and watch a Memphis Grizzlies vs. Washington Wizards regular season game? Like sit and watch the whole game?

Fair enough. I don't watch it much myself so I'm not trying to play the part of NBA fan here but the ratings across multiple platforms have increased and the games are fun this time of year. Knicks came back from 22 down last night and the crowd and atmosphere seemed insane. I'm not really shocked an old, UK message board isn't lit up with NBA takes in May because it's an old, UK message board. We have our passion here and it's not the NBA. That doesn't mean the sport isn't popular and the passion isn't there though.

I sometimes question what folks here actually love. Lately, college basketball is 'ruined' and 'unwatchable', football is blah because we stunk, the NBA? No. It's a sports board where most sports seem to be disliked lol.
