True but, there is a first time for everything..Just like in the true movie We Are Marshall..Ed Stewart would be an intriguing hire. He's got a great resume, he's worked in many different areas of athletics administration/management over the years. But on the other hand, he's never had to make a coaching hire.

i don't doubt this at all.. from an admin perspective, it's one huge headache every Sunday to deal with what happened at your University the day before type thing..I know Ronnie. Dont think alcohol sales will happen while he is chancellor. I was told he doesnt like night games because of all day drinking.
Ed was involved or around all that **** at Missouri?Though I also almost forgot about Ed's baggage from Mizzou with his wife and Ricky Clemons. Google the phrase "Them Crackers Shaking". Not sure how well that would play here, but then again that was almost 20 years ago.

Interesting observation. My first guess is this might have to do with alcohol sales issue at memorial stadium. Moos was probably for it, while Osborne and a large number of boosters are against it. Just speculation.
Bob Devaney kept his job all those years. Must be something else.Health? Booze? Babes?
The guy is 70 years old and he acts like he's 80 going on 90. Why is it a mystery as to why he's retiring. Good grief some of these people need to get a clue. Not everybody wants to hang on until the drool reaches all the way to their crotch.Bob Devaney kept his job all those years. Must be something else.
Ed is NOT a good candidate to be AD at NU. IF he were, he would have been hired instead of Moos in the first place.Yep, Ed and his wife were implicated in the scandal at Mizzou with Ricky Clemons. But if Quin Snyder can bounce back from it and go on to become a top NBA coach, perhaps Ed deserves a 2nd chance as well.
Bobfather appearing in this thread? Moos will be forgotten in five years or less. Bobfather will be idolized by NU fans who haven’t yet been born. I doubt Bobfather’s rough edges matter a bit. Just win, baby.Bob Devaney kept his job all those years. Must be something else.
Maybe Barry Alvarez can recommend someone for us to hire.
Hope so.
I know the AD is responsible for all athletic programs but his main responsibility is to drive success in football. That's 90% of the job. And the results on the football field have been awful. Most ADs only get one shot to hire a football coach.
There's a chance Frost turns things around this year (fingers crossed), but if the wins don't come and the recruiting continues to stink, then it'll be time to move on to the next coach. Bringing in a new AD now gives that person the opportunity to use this season to make critical assessments and possibly select a new coach.
Stability is why they extended Frost. They see that he's getting the kind of players he needs to win if he can just get better QB play. IMO, we're better off riding with Frost instead of gambling on a new guy who would have to start all over again. I truly believe that Frost has laid a foundation that will pay long term dividends if people will just suck it up and ride this out with him. I'm generally not an overly optimistic person but I think staying the course is our best action unless the wheels totally came off like they did for Riley at the end.Huskers are doomed. I really think there is a hex on the program. Rotating ADs and coaches is what bad schools do. Winning colleges have stability. Like we had in Lincoln prior to 2000.

It does sound more and more like Moos wasn't doing jack and was out of town too much. The theory that he was told he "would be retiring" is gaining credibility. I had heard he had been discussing retiring with friends for months. Clearly Green didn't want a lame duck AD.That's semantics only. He was relieved of his duties. For whatever reason. This was not done on his terms or his timetable.
......(Moos) told the Omaha World-Herald that he'd had conversations recently with University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Ronnie Green about his buyout and was informed last week that he would retire almost immediately.
“Apparently this was the best time,” Moos told the World-Herald while declining to say who told him he’d be retiring.
