Paying an Alabama professor to raise money while laying off its own employees

Terrible
We can’t win without the facilities. Honestly I don’t see these facilities making our recruiting that much better. We already recruit about 20th and that’s after losing games. With the facilities we might jump 1 or 2 spots in recruiting. It’s not always the building it’s the people inside that building that make it great.

thats probably true but you won't convince NEB football of that. This is a place that DESPERATELY wants to be a blue blood again. and will be willing to do anything even if it doesn't increase the odds much. and the fans and supporters seem perfectly willing to pay for anything they want to do

I think we should spend the money on 5 star players and not facilities. Put the money in off shore accounts for their families and then deny everything.

Who wouldn't spend 750K to get 11 million? Some of you need to learn math and take some business classes.

If he has the connections and that is what gets the money in, then its a wise investment.

Maybe if they would hire and Keep top notch professors the state of Nebraska and city of Lincoln would need to rely on football as a hugh piece of it's economy. Cutting programs and not retaining top notch professors will eventually cause the university to have no need for football

Except he went back to Alabama to be a professor for less money. He made some great connections in the short time that he was here
Ha!

He went back to not work. You think he is going to be teaching 5 classes a week and have 20 hours office time?

Dude will "teach" maybe 1 class a semester, with a TA that will teach 75% of the classes and do all the grading.

All he did was retire without retiring.

Firing university employees whilst funneling a quarter of a million dollars per annum + expenses to an Alabama professor just because frost happens to have a certain affection for him

The whole ordeal is absolutely shambolic

He is also an NU employee also (maybe a contractor is more accurate), as evidence by him being on the payroll doing a job of fundraising for the university. He didn't get fired because he is also the best fundraiser NU has and has been with the university long before Frost came here. My guess is that NU employing him has been the biggest ROI of any of the university's employees, including our AD, and coaches.

If you want to make an argument that proves why he should be let go vs and another employee that was fired to be retained, feel free to make that argument. Please include specifics. But to say that NU pays this guy just because he is buddies with Frost is dishonest, and you know it.

No, it isn't. They are just 3/4 of the way home on raising $100 million or so for the new facilities. Someone who can shake big money out of donors, especially now with brown stuff dripping from this program, is a rare find. $250,000/yr is cheap if he can deliver.

Exactly he is being paid for connections with big time donors and raising money. Which is exactly what he is doing. Business is done by paying 750 K to generate over 75 million which takes contacts and trust. The people that donate to specific projects have close connections with Bounds and believe in what he is doing to help.
This article is a hatchet job done by people with other agendas.

Same price tag - now phased - downsized and downgraded

sounds like they are doing a hell of a job

Probably some more employee cuts on the horizon so they don’t have to compromise on the slushy machines or video game consoles for the walkons

Facility downgrade

Most trolls switch to their other handles when replying to themselves. You’re slipping.

Most fans have no idea how any of this stuff works. All major programs have this type of things going on. It's a constant arms race and there is always something trying to push schools to get to the next level.

Wonder what area was made smaller?

Using "whilst" doesn't make you sound smart and doesn't prevent you from being a goofy troll.

But don't worry, they'll just fire half a dozen secretaries and brag about how they eliminated positions. Meanwhile, the gravy train for professors that show up once a month continues. I'm not saying there aren't professors that earn their pay, but there are zero consequences for those that don't.
