What do you think the percentage breakdown would be for Moorhead support?

For Moorhead: think he’s just had a bad shake and will eventually get his offense playing at a high level.

Neutral Moorhead: fans that feel Moorhead has an equal chance a swimming vs sinking. Not really happy, but think one more year should tell the tale.

Against Moorhead: fans that have seen enough to know nothing will turn this around.

This feels like a 10%, 20%, 70% to me

Folks I’ve spoken to personally:

0%
5%
95%

Of the fans of other schools (OM, Bama, USM, LSU...), that I’ve spoken to, they are for the most part in agreement.

That sounds about right from people I talk to as well.

The high majority wish he'd of been fired, a few say give him another year.

For - 10%
Neutral - 40%
Against - 50%

Rough estimate on my behalf, but “Against” definitely holds the plurality. I’m neutral myself, but very much headed towards against until I see some major breakthrough.

I haven't talked to anyone personally who is in the last camp. I'd say 60 percent are at least hopeful he can turn it around, and then 40 percent "we'll see" kind of ambivalence.

surprisingly, i've seen more support from him over the last part of the season for some reason.

I would say from what i've seen personally from multiple groups between work, family, friends.

20%, 30%, and 50%

I suggest a fourth category that's somewhere in between Neutral and Against. These people don't really expect anything out of Moorhead, definitely not an "equal chance" of success and failure, but aren't quite at the level that he must be fired.

And my observation breaks down something like 10-20-30-40.

I don't necessarily support Moorhead, but he has done well enough for to continue to give him the benefit of the doubt. I am pessimistic about the future, but not in full blown meltdown mode (like some). The reality is that MS State is a difficult place to win and Moorhead has won 8 and then 6 games. The bowl streak continues and I think firing a coach who has had reasonable success could very easily leave in a worse position than keeping him.

I'm in support of him and believe that most fans have something about the program they are not happy about but a much lower % are at the point that it's beyond recovery by Moorhead.

I'm confident that we are getting better at a much slower pace than most prefer. It's also obvious that a number of people are upset that he wasn't the magic bullet to get us to the playoffs or close IMMEDIATELY.

Such is life. One day you kids will learn.

In the mean time, get off my lawn.

I think the vocal crowd overwhelming wants him gone but they represent the minority of the fan base. I think the majority of the fan base is silent but they are like me and they support MSU and as long as he is the coach they will support him. The majority, like me, may doubt if he can ever live up to expectations but will support him as long as he is our coach.

10% - I don’t see Moorhead’s offense playing at a high level until he has stars in all positions.
30% - Optimistic outlook
60% - The plays we run (if we even design strategic plays, which I kinda doubt bc everything we do is just a reaction to the defense, *no wrinkles*) take too long to develop to be successful against SEC talent. Plus we are extremely undisciplined and have no clue what kind of offense we want to be

Great Post. I dont think anyone is very happy or energetic about the future right now, but It doesn't mean things can't change. Will he turn it around? Who knows, but we can make a rational assessment after next season.

Mississippi State is one of the hardest places to win in the country. We are in the toughest division in college football, and have the smallest athletic budget, and city in the entire SEC. Over the past decade we have had success (historically for State) by stability and improving our brand. Piggy backing instability on with our other built in disadvantages could be a recipe for disaster.

This is the best analysis I've seen, and the 10% description is extremely valid.

Its not so much that Moorhead offense sucks, as it is the fact that Moorhead will never have the personnel to run it effectively vs SEC defenses that are worth a damn.

I guess I just happen to hang out with the vocal majority. I only know of 1 State fan who wanted to keep him. And I probably know as many State fans as most people.

The extra 10% comes from folks that were pounding sand and kicking rocks. They came back just to vote.

Maybe I'm just around rock kickers and sand pounders but I didn't know one single State fan who thought his dipshit "yankee" *** could get the job done BEFORE the Arkansas game much less after these recent season ending cluster 17's . You need a 4th level...Think he and Cohen both should be run out of town on a rail !
