The Hogville board has some good comments.

There is a post on there about Marcus Monk wanting to be an NBA agent and that he's getting in with WWW and Calipari to springboard that. Comical.

I think the remarks from the Arkansas fans are pretty considering they were all for him a few days ago.. God help him with his pain.

Can't fault them too much, you ever been on this board on the rare occasion a recruit chooses another school. Many of our fans tear down his game, say we didn't really want him, etc. just the nature of the recruiting game.

after reading his twitter announcement, the young man seems to have a very level head on his shoulders, humble & hungry

Just seems like another quality person that Cal has signed

Agent.

Apparently, Marcus Monk has started his own brand called MonkBrand and is starting to support local basketball events and teams in the area. They figure this allows him yet another in with big wigs in the industry and he's using Malik to help him get in with other prospects in the class once they go pro.

Of course, a few people on the UofA boards also say that if Malik was such a huge fan of Arkansas, loved them so much, he would've committed last year and gotten it over with. Some say Monk always wanted to go to UK because he understands just how much going to UK and being apart of a Cal team means, and he was just stringing Arkansas along.

Now, instead of making that public, Marcus Monk is publicly taking the fall for his brother and allowing Malik to come off as the good guy. That makes sense considering the statement he released on Twitter just an hour after the news broke. Most 18-year olds don't do that...unless someone is driving the bus in the background.

Monk will have a tough time avoiding all the criticism his final year in high school, but it will more than prepare him for the real world much faster.

When I heard Monk committed, I remember that Jeff Teague had some say in where Marquis should play............I think he made a good choice, and would have liked for him to stay another year. It definitely worked out for us in the end didn't it?
