How talented were UCF’s RBs under Frost? I honestly don’t remember. Were they difference makers? Speedsters? NFL level talent?

top two guys the last couple years are both small speed guys, Killins and McRae. One thing I noticed reviewing the stats is that AM ran a lot more than Milton did. Maybe a function of a true frosh QB taking more sacks and pulling it down quicker?

I am seriously concerned about the running back slot. Even if Mo comes back, how distracted will he be by his legal issues? And even if they are resolved by Fall, he will still have been mentally absent for months. Bradley? No confidence in him. None. Mazour??? Next.... Other than Mo, there simply are no standout running backs in that room. So I would not be surprised to see Wandale back there a lot and maybe even Miles Jones and the true Freshman coming in. Hopefully, Belt is the real deal and not just another walk on Spring hit who will disappear again in the Fall.

Edit: I highly doubt Mills will make it
This guys seems to think we will need Ronald Thompkins to be healthy.

Newer/inexperienced guys at Center and Guard and potentially lack of quality depth at OTackle could most definitely be contributing to all the talk about D-Line dominance.

I think DL will most definitely be improved, but for now should be tempered by who they’re going against.
The OL is a major concern BUT I feel there’s no reason to panic yet. Fall camp is when this offense is really gonna start to gel. Jurgens hopefully can grab the position “by the balls” as Austin said and fulfill the Frost prophecy.
While the team has a ton of talent, there’s a few gaps and some depth lacking in spots. It’s just where we’re at as a program, but many/most programs have similar things to work through.

Killins and Anderson are good, and I'm a big fan of Killins with his unbelievable speed. McRae is the best of the bunch though. It wouldn't bother me if Frost recruited an undersized speedster with the success they've had at UCF with those type of backs.

I'm not terribly worried about the RB situation. The ceiling is definitely higher if Washington and Mills are both available, but I don't think the floor is too terribly low. They have a lot of bodies in that room and we haven't ruled about the possibility of grabbing a grad transfer from somewhere if Mills doesn't make it.

It's more about the OL play in front of them. We saw two years ago how a terrible OL could make Ozigbo look like a useless RB and then one year later he's housing long TD runs and clearing 1,000 yds for the season. Sounds like they're pushing as many chips in on Jurgens as they can, letting him drink from the firehose and seeing if he can get his head around the position.

WR is still the group I have the most concerns about. JD will be a great weapon but somebody else needs to step up there as well. I want JD in the slot where he's best suited but somebody has to prove it on the outside for that to happen.

I think it is easily explained by the following:

1.) The defensive line actually sounds like they are going to be huge badasses this year. We have Daniels x 2 and Davis x 2, plus Stille and Deontre Thomas, and then behind them DaiShon Neal, Damian Jackson, and younger dudes ready to get better. Damion Daniels is friggin' 340 pounds now! Yeesh!

2.) We're re-tooling our offensive line.

3.) Our corners are probably going to be really good this year.

Linbackers and Safties decision making?

How many times do we hear it guys.. the defense is always starts off better..scheme wise its just easier to play faster less timimg than offense depends on.. its just the way it is.. Offense will pick up steam as we get closer to fall camp!! Relax
This. D should have the edge right now

The Oline has Jaimes, elder Farniok and Wilson as vets. Hixson is getting good reviews and then it's probably Farniok the younger or Cam at Center. I think the staff really likes Cam's potential and will end up taking the bad with the good. I think the big issue is development of depth after these guys.
We know Mills and Mo are iffy at RB, let's hope one of them occupies a roster spot come fall. Is it conceivable that NU rolls snake eyes on Bradley, Mazour, Belt (did not know this kid existed until last week), Rahmir Johnson and Ronald Thompkins? Miles Jones and Wan'dale will also get carries. I count nine guys as possible ball carriers in the fall, and NU only needs two plus one or two in reserve.
WR is in some respect the same as RB. JD is a proven player, Kade has shown that he belongs on the field against B1G defenses. Does NU strike out with Nance, McQuitty, Williams, Woodyard, Chase and Hunt, with Wan'dale and Jones (and Belt?) also in the mix from the Duck R?

Sounds good. I hope they do. They are bad right now though.

Oh??? I didn’t know your at practice doing evaluations and working with the group?! So, How they looking, are they finding a solid group in the middle and meshing together??? Because that’s are only weakness I see at the moment. Plus side is we have a nice number of young, talented Olineman that can jump in and mix it up. Our Oline tackles are in solid shape. Jaime’s and Farniok will kick *** this season. ;)

I like the optimism, but we haven't seen good OL play in a while, so @PeliniTheCrutch has good reason to believe they aren't good. Lots of question marks along the line this year, especially if Farniok has to move inside and we start a tFR at RT.

But Farniok hasn’t made the move inside and that shows some promise. And I get it, there are some of you guys that can’t seem to shake the Mike Riley and coach’s Cav issues. I’d agree IF we still had those coaches, we’d probably have issues. But we now have Frost and Stone cold Greg Austin and they both are very good with progressing talent. Heck over the season last year we seen improvements and I’m more then confident Austin and Frost will keep the oline progressing....and IF NOT....Frost will see it first hand and he will have Martinez rolling out more and making some quick screens or quick passes to make up for the lack of running. He knows what he’s doing and I truly believe that.

Lol, you didn’t just call me Bobot, did you!?!? Look at any of my posts, NONE of them are ever in favor of Bo. Well I did use Bos records as a reverence to Kirk Ferentz sucking as a Head Coach. My point in this thread was Scott Frost and this staff progressing our team. Had nothing to do with Bo Pelini.

I should've put a smiley in there
