That's fascinating. Part of the reason Democrats are losing voters is because they're putting political issues ahead of primal human needs that are vitally important, such as people being close with their family. And then their response is to tell people, if a family member doesn't agree with you on politics, don't talk to them. It's like they're doubling down on the things that make people dislike them in the first place.

The absolute last thing anyone should do is disassociate from family members just because those family members disagree with their politics. Instead, family members ought to tell each other, no matter what disagreements we may have about politics, we will always be family to each other and we should treat each other as such.
