Once upon a time on this board trolling was an offense which warranted a ban. What changed with that policy?

I will be honest with you when I say that I don’t know how to answer this. Yes, trolling is usually dealt with by giving users points for it and continued trolling may get a ban. The problem is, it is hard to tell 100% when someone is trolling. We need to be 100% sure that someone is trolling before it gets dealt with. Every mod has a different opinion of trolling. With the state of today’s program, it is honestly hard to tell opinion from trolling. I’m sorry if that isn’t the answer you are looking for, but the best we can do. We aren’t on here all the time and miss stuff all of the time. It’s a volunteer position and we do what we can.
It took me almost a half hour to clean that crap up yesterday. Good grief.
Thanks for all that you and the other Mods do. I can’t imagine it’s easy...especially after a loss.

I appreciate it. It’s not always black and white sometimes and we don’t see everything and can’t make everyone happy. I’ve had my life threatened and had a poster even threaten to rape my family. Some people take this crap way too seriously.

There's one guy who has started multiple threads all saying the same thing just to start pissing matches. It's been going on all season. I really don't think he's a Husker fan.

That made me laugh. Poor seasons probably do make it extremely difficult to distinguish trolls from fans, and I fully include myself in that statement.
I don’t know about trolls. As Kaz says, it is hard to figure out who is a troll and who isn’t.
I think this is getting more difficult because, trolls or no trolls, I have seen the quality of posts on this board go way down over the past year. Maybe it’s just me, but it just seems thread after thread after thread get hijacked by adolescent arguments and pissing contests.

I'm amazed that more fans don't decide to stay home. We do have fantastic fans. The team performance over the last few years deserves more of a turnout that Stanford & UCLA have been getting.
There is certainly no call for that kind of behavior or attitude, and I'd agree that there are many that take this way too seriously......
However, I do have a quick question.....is being a fan of another team automatic grounds for banning? I ask, because I have a friend (yes...a real whole other person...I'm not using his name) that was banned from here on a couple of occasions. He occasionally argued and disagreed, but he never talked trash, bragged, insulted, or cursed at anyone (and was even appreciated by a few Husker fans), and there are fellow Husker fans on here with far worse behavior than my friend ever displayed that are still allowed to post.

Unless Frost can turn this around, I have a feeling that is what will happen. I’ll still go to games, I guess. Friday was kind a bit difficult with the rain/sleet.
No, just being a fan of another team does not get an automatic banning. Fans of other programs probably get shorter leashes, especially if they are over here to cause trouble. I don’t know who your friend is, but he may have gotten taken out when there was a wave of posters who have come over here to start crap. There have been times when we have been overwhelmed by fans from other boards and we have taken out a bunch of them. We are short handed here at times. Then, if he/she came back under a different name, we can tell and will usually ban that name too.
I don’t have an issue if an opposing fan comes here to debate, but if they can’t do it in a civil manner, they probably won’t be here long. I can’t speak for other mods, but that’s how I do it.
