Mobile ticket e mail

We were just reading the mobile ticket e mail and how all of this is supposed to work. Mark my words, this will be the biggest stadium entry cluster 17 in the history of the free world. Our game day operations are already a complete disaster. Can you just imagine what fresh hell this will turn out to be. I think we will turn everything over to our kids and just call it done. Been going to State football games since 1961 but I don’t think they are interested in my continued participation. We will just watch on TV. Seems like they continue to make every effort to take all of the fun out of it.

Can I ask what the huge problem is with going to a preferred digital approach? If you still want to scan a piece of paper you still can. I agree that a lot of fans will probably not have their phones ready for entry, but this is a logical step and the gameday problems aren’t caused by ticket scanning. It’s a natural progression. It seems like it would minimize fraud and is the way I see the majority of scanning going.

We will have to get in line on Friday to get in the gate by Saturday. I sincerely hope that I am wrong, but I will believe it when I see it. Perhaps life has passed me on by, but actually going to the games is not fun anymore.

I just opted in for the season with print at home. I did it over the phone. I was also informed if things changes and I don't get in because of what decision are made by the school I can still get refund or credit. Also if I get moved to another section my pledge will reflect where I sit. If I get moved to upper deck my tickets will reflect where i sit. Any extra money that I paid when it is done and said can be refunded or credited.

Why do you think it will take longer to scan your phone vs scanning a ticket? Most, and maybe all at this point, pro sports use mobile tickets exclusively. It seems to work fine there.

Yeah, I don’t see how this will hurt and at the end of the day, our inability to get people into the stadium never really had anything to do with tickets. It’s the added security protocol combined with the fact that we don’t have nearly enough resources to manage said protocol for 60k people

I have a feeling to keep distant getting into the stadium there will be no metal detectors.

Man it hasn’t passed you by at all. I don’t like going to games unless I sit club or it’s at a chairback facility. Again, I think the inefficiencies are problems at other points of the process, not the actual scanning of tickets. People with QR code’s on phones never have a problem boarding, it’s always that jackass that crumbles up his boarding pass going through security(me) that has problems scanning.

Well it's the perfect time to do it since instead of 60k+ fans entering, only 20k will be!

Easiest way to do it, is to take a screenshot beforehand

We did this last season, absolutely no problem or delay. Just be an adult and take a little responsibility, make sure you have your phone, it is charged and you have a screen shot of the tix ready. If someone doesn't have his/her ready, just step aside, get it right and get back in line.

I’m probably just having a bad day. I’m sure that it will all work fine. Sorry for the negativity.

🤦*♂️🤦*♂️🤦*♂️🤦*♂️ Anyone who has a problem with mobile ticketing hasn’t been to a major sporting event or concert in any large metropolis in the United States in the past 5 years. Heck, about the only way into the College World Series in Omaha for a visiting fan is a mobile ticket. The Toyota Center (where most music concerts are held in Houston, Texas) went mobile years ago.

I understand people still wanting a printed ticket. But once you get used to mobile tickets, it’s certainly more convenient. Not having to keep up with the ticket or print the ticket out is very nice.

Mobile boarding passes may be the best thing to happen to flying in years.

Atlanta United (and a ton of other pro sports teams) have gone to a system within TicketMaster that has a rotating bar code so that you can't send a screenshot of the ticket to someone and then still use the ticket. You have to scan the ticket from inside the TM app or your Apple Wallet. For some reason, Android wallet support wasn't available when this season started. For the season ticket holders who go to a game every other week, it isn't a big deal, but I saw one off attenders struggling to figure it out (especially blue hairs). ATLUTD does a good job with folks walking around with signs that say "Need mobile ticketing help?" but I can't imagine MSU will have the money/forethought to do the same.

Honestly, the biggest problem is 70k people all using cell service right at the gate trying to load their tickets. The stadium has good wifi that you can normally connect to, but it was a problem once or twice.

If it’s in your Apple wallet, I don’t think you need service to pull that up. And I’m pretty sure the MLB ball park app does not need service, if you’ve already viewed the ticket.

That's correct, download the ticket to your wallet before you get to the stadium and cell service is a non factor. Unfortunately I'm sure there will still be some that are confused by this, but the majority of folks will probably be able to figure it out without needing a ton of guidance.

Okay. I am using print at home ticket for Davis Wade. I don't carry my phone into the stadium. I leave it in my car. When MSU goes to all mobile then I will use it.
