Seems like a pretty good kid from reading his blog, no matter where he may end up. Hope we get him but seems like a kid I could pull for. Well, not if he goes to Duke. Thanks for the link, Yaysports.

Agree with jrpross, I think Duke is focusing on Carter and Bamba doesn't want to share the spotlight.

He'll end up with you guys. Cal coaching AD is a massive advantage in this recruitment and it should be. If im Cal all I talk about is how similar Bamba is to AD and look how great AD did at UK and in the NBA.
I hope you are right

The thing that stood out to me is the part where he said he would be there 4 years, if that's the case it's Harvard lol. Or it could be Michigan state or puke since they seem to be able to keep guys 26 years

That, combined with the fact that I kinda doubt he wants to share the 5 spot with Carter puts me in the same mindset.
Ya its definitely a big swing by the Duke staff to try and get both of them. If K pulls it off I will be extremely happy. But ya with the AD thing and probably wanting to be THE man on his team let alone the frontcourt. It just seems like such an uphill climb for Duke in this

The Crystal Ball brigade doesn't agree, but I feel pretty good about Bamba. Duke is going to have a hard time getting past the fact they have never had a kid like Bamba.

Not a chance, unless he's not nearly as smart as everyone thinks.

Crystal Ball guys are about as correct as any regular, informed poster on this message board. At some point, I'm wondering when people will stop looking to the Crystal Ball as any insightful way of knowing where a kid is going to end up. All the talk means little until about 36 to 12 hours before the kid announces where he's headed.

It's like looking at a weather forecast.

Right now, in December, we'll probably have a high of 41 and a low of 29. 30% chance of precipitation.

I'd probably wait and check on that the week or day before though.

I'm glad Duke has Carter in their recruiting class. I'm hopeful that will push Bamba to us and i'll take Bamba over Carter anyday of the week after watching both of these kids play. Obviously Carter is a talented big man and will be a good player for Duke. K wouldn't recruit the kid if he wasn't. I just prefer this kid than Carter. The elite level defense Bamba will bring to the court from day 1 will be fun to watch and if we're lucky and he ends up at Kentucky, the kid could be another Davis on defense. Let's hope so!

Bamba to me seems like a towns type guy as far as intelligence and skill. He may not have the offense towns did but I think he can be just as effective. Him, Diallo, and one of the top pgs and the rest is gravy imo for the class

I'd love to see a class of Bamba, Washington, Walker, Diallo, Young, and Petty as the 6th recruit. Two decent shooters (counting Petty), an ultra athlete wing (Diallo), a 4/5 combo that would compliment each other, and a lightning-paced point guard to lead the show.

Bamba is more like Noel than Davis.

Probably true, and before the ACL injury, Noel was on pace to be the #1 pick in his draft class, so that plays towards UK's favor as well. Bottom line, UK has the track record with defensive-minded big men, be they in the mold of Davis or Noel.

If he's being recruited by Harvard he must be an excellent student in addition to being a great player. He also mentions Shaka Smart at Texas. I have a feeling he's going to make the Longhorns a force in basketball. With Cal though I always feel like we have a good chance!

Bambas defense is arguably better than what Noels was at this same part of there careers, bamba has one of the largest height to wing span differences I have ever seen in basketball at like 7 foot to 7'8 7'9...he is massive and you can't teach that..

I believe Anthony Davis will be the key to this recruitment, there games are identical and bamba is too badass of a player to be setting pick and rolls at duke...

I would rather have bamba than carter. But with Carter being a lock to go to Duke Not sure if I were you guys I would want to trade places. I like our chances with Mo but a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush. Carter is an absolute stud . I just remember what a guy like AD could do to a teams psyche. Shot blocking and rebounding is something you can count on game in and game out. Scoring people tend to have off games. Landing either I would be skipping for a week.

I wouldnt be surprised if Carter had the better overall year in college. But once they get into the NBA it is going to be a no brainer with Bamba. The dude has sky high potential with that freakish length and athleticism. The dude is going to easily be an all star and all defensive team type player. He is probably going to be in the running for DPOY as well his one year at college. Really hope Duke pulls him in but I dont see it happening

well no crap Carter will have the better college year. Carter is going to Duke .... And he'll get the Okafor specialty..... bull charge ...continuation and a foul.... on the opposing player . The only other school where people routinely get the special treatment is UNC.

I don't know that Bolden will play enough to make much of an impact next year. He's also not known as high motor guy, so he may not make the most of those 10-15 mpg he'll probably get.

I'm not sure that Duke's best team isn't going to be Jefferson and Giles upfront and three shooters on the perimeter - Allen, Jackson, Kennard. Or maybe you put Giles and Tatum upfront and work Matt Jones into the rotation.

All I know is that Amile Jefferson is one of the best rebounders in college basketball, and with the shooters Duke has, he's going to play 36 mpg. Not going to be a lot of minutes to go around for Bolden, which is good, because if he comes back for his sophomore year, no way Bamba goes there with Carter.

Carter will average more points for sure. He is definitely ahead of Bamba offensively but Mo's length on the other end could be game changing. Having had a couple shot blockers like that before (Noel and Davis) I would be ecstatic to get another. If you have people who can get buckets around them you can compete for a title. When we had Davis teams would refuse to shoot from within the paint. Even when guys were open they would hesitate or throw up something ugly. Give me the defensive dynamo. On the other hand having a low post scorer who can get buckets in crunch time is also invaluable.

Bamba is the one player in this class I really hope cal signs, I feel that him and SKJ In the same front court next year will be the best in the nation...you put that lineup with Washington, diallo or walker and young..I don't know if there is a better starting lineup in the country next year..
