I liked this song while having no idea it was about anything but eventually I learned Magneto and Titanium Man were cartoons created by the legendary cartoonist Stan Lee and McCartney was a fan and that motivated him to write this song. And I read that Stan Less was greatly flattered.

Subdivisions is a good one, both music and lyrics. Rush had a guitarist, bassist and drummer. I assumed the lyrics were written by the guitarist and/or bassist. It wasn't until much later that I learned that most of the lyrics were written by the drummer, Neal Peart, who is the one that is now dead.

I was in high school when it came out. Very nostalgic.

This is in response to Linda Rondstadt's "You're No Good," since I now realize when I hit "reply" it doesn't tell what song I'm replying to.

Linda Rondstadt was a big deal in the 1970s, both in terms of her music, how well she could sing and what she looked like. She did covers and she did them well. Here's another one she did, named "I Can't Let Go." There was a song in the mid-70 that was a big hit named "Lotta Love" (written by Neil Young). The woman that sang it, Nicolette Larson, sings background on this song.

Also, the producer of this song is a guy named Peter Asher. In the 1960s he was in a group named Peter & Gordon, who had a big hit with a song named "A World Without Love" that was written by Paul McCartney. McCartney's girlfriend for several years was Jane Asher, Peter's sister. The guy that wrote this song also wrote "Wild Thing." It was done originally by The Hollies in the 60s.

And here is another pretty great cover of it by a band playing at a strip mall in Atlanta.

Here is my favorite Cracker song, not that I know that many, but I did have one of their CDs back in the day. This is also the only song I know that mentions "titty rings" in the lyrics. The singer in this band had previously been the singer in Camper Van Beethoven. I had one of their cassettes, named "Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart" and it was really good.
