Probably means Allen and Rowdey are back when they normally might not have been. Hatcher may fall in that category as well. And like everyone else we will bring a lot
of talent to campus because of this. Georgia may get hit hardest by this. They were gonna have two first round starters in their starting rotation.

regardless of Ginn we should have a very talented and deep pitching staff. We will really need to find some bats though.

Yes. Austin Hendricks for sure. First rounder. And likely juco pitcher Cameron Tullar. After that its anyones guess with Blaze Jordan or Cade smith. Depends on whether teams can come to terms with them. Not a lot of room to miss so they want to be sure. Im sure im missing someone else.

Undrafted players are capped at $20K on their signing bonus, so if you aren’t drafted you almost certainly aren’t signing either.

You will see more players honor their college commitments, but you will also see a lot of high end high schoolers go JUCO or sign overseas, ala Stewart a couple of years ago.

What's the logic behind this? 5 seems like such an arbitrary number. Is it because MLB is pessimistic that minor leagues will return this year? Seems more like the league is trying to get a better report on kids in college for free and rob a lot of juniors of their leverage to return if they dont like where they get drafted.

Some is a money crunch (signing bonuses wont even be paid up front). But i think most feel its a nice opportunity to cut down on the number of entering minor leaguers as MLB tries to slash the number of minor league teams.

but the IHME models show...oh sorry wrong topic

The logic is, with no revenue coming in right now and the possibility of little or no revenue all year, they're cutting about $30MM per team in costs.

There has been talk for a year or so and before covid of retracting a good portion of the minor league system. The draft has already shrank considerably. 8-10 years ago there were like 55 rounds, that was pretty much cut in half to 30.

Between that and MLB wanting to drastically cut farm teams may mean a lot more kids playing Juco or D1 ball in the future.

And they're hoping to cut it to 20 rounds in the near future but the minor league situation is such a mess right now and COVID has put it on the back burner.

JUCO yes, but until they fix the scholarship situation, I don’t know that the NCAA ever really makes a leap. There’s just not as much of an incentive to pursue that path.

I think the image / likenesses changes will help MSU Baseball. I could see as many diamond dogs getting income $ as football players.
