Why do they not have any fan attendance? They could sell 300 tickets @ $200 each and have minimum of 50’ between people. No concessions, stores, etc. Let people bring in their own small cooler. I understand $60,000 is way less than normal, but it’s something, and they could sell way more tickets than that with ample spacing.

It’s dumb for sure. They could easily spread people out and keep them more than safe.

I read that MLB is not going to allow fans unless every city has the clearance to allow fans. I’m not sure who does not, but my guess would be Washington, California teams and Seattle.

Except MLB players could have zero interaction with the fans. SEC players would have contact with non-sec players if they play against them. I understand your point but I believe the safety message is that sec teams can control players better if they don’t interact with poor schools.

I suppose the pocket change income (relative to the $50M players' salaries) wouldn't be worth the risk to the fans, however slight.

I think the season was on thin ice enough a few weeks ago to scare MLB officials. Plus, there’s probably also a break even point at attendance. I doubt they’re profitable up until a certain point. So, that break even point might be less than some clubs are allowed to enter.

Other conferences are handling it just fine.

That is probably true regarding a certain number of fans needed to break even.

We’re one week in. We won’t know how it went until about the time the SEC starts up.

That being said, I’d feel safer playing Memphis than Tennessee right now.

If nothing else they are leaving a lot of money on the table by not selling advertisements to cover the empty seats. They could superimpose billboards on the seats the way they put the first down line on football games.

If Trump wins, it may be 5 years before MLB allows fans.

We do have a lot of morons in this country but I don't think we have enough for the guy that calls our wounded and/or KIA veterans "losers" and "suckers" to win another term.

They are reporting a couple of anonymous sources. Bolton, that is anything but friendly to Trump, said he was in the metting referenced and it didn't happen. Come on people.

Ive paid enough attention to Trump the last decade to know that its not impossible that he might have uttered something to that extent to very close company. But very few people loathe Trump as much as John Bolten and he was there and said he never heard anything remotely close to that. Bolten said had he heard it then it would have gotten a whole chapter about it in his book. He and John Kelly said they didnt visit the cemetery due to poor chopper conditions. Emails seem to bare that out. Still, as I said, I wouldnt be 100% shocked if he said something to that extent in close company.

But if you (The Atlantic I think, not "yourself DCD") are going to report that story about THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES in this political climate with 2/3rds of the country at each others throats, with cities burning and rotting, and 2 months before election day; then I"m sorry, I'm going to need names for those sources. Not having known sources for "reported facts" has quite literally torn this country in two. Faith in our political class and the media may be forever irreparable. Billions of dollars were wasted as well as nearly 3/4ths of a duly elected president's time in office. Its possible that tens to hundreds of thousands of American lives were lost to a senseless virus that maybe wouldnt have jumped up and bit us in the *** had Congress been doing their job of protecting Americans. But they were to busy trying to impeach a president over a 3 year pissing contest that's genesis was a dossier from unnamed sources.

As Dubya kinda tried to say it, "fool me once, shame on you....."

AND BTW I wasnt saying The Atlantic should burn their sources, I'm saying if you cant go on the record with those sources then you dont release the report.

The owner of the Atlantic is a huge democratic donor. That’s all you need to know. Politics in America are pathetic.

IF congress and the media had of cared 1/100th of 1 percent about looking out of the American people as they did in trying to undo a democratic election result you're telling me we couldnt have been more prepared and possibly more protective than what we ended up being? Tell me you're not that obtuse. Hell I live in the hills of MS and yet I was paying enough attention to start a thread about it on here in January or early February. A lot of congress and most of the media didnt give two ***** about corona until they realized they could use it to harm the president, of whom I'm not the biggest fan. Hell just paying enough attention to stop 2 states from sending infected elderly people back into a nursing home setting would have saved 10,000+ lives. I didnt say it wouldnt have still killed thousands upon thousands, but just paying attention 2-3 weeks earlier that early in the life of it would have had exponential effects. Do you want me to remind you was tying up most of congress and the media's attention the first 2-3 weeks of 2020?

I remember talking about the virus and being somewhat concerned during Christmas 2019.

It's too bad we didn't stop incoming flights from China then, but everybody in Congress, both parties, either didn't mention it or were blowing it off.

Here is the TRUTH of the matter and what happened, cutting through the election-year B.S. Donald Trump is a huge supporter of the every-day soldier part of the U.S. Military. But he thinks very poorly of the high-level military leadership. He's one of the most anti-war Republican presidents we've had in a long long time. He has routinely criticized decisions to go to war in Iraq and for dumb policy in fighting wars against Iraq and Afghanistan. All of these comments you are hearing about deal with THAT aspect of it....the leadership side, not the common soldier. So when you hear terms like "sucker" and "loser" they're in reference to how they have been used by Presidents and past military leadership. You can just hear him say how some dumb general treated his soldiers like a bunch of suckers by dragging them off to some endless useless war. Quotes like "dying for nothing" aren't in regards to how big a salary they're getting, but in the pointlessness of the war in his view. What is happening is people like John Kelly and James Mattis, who clearly hate Trump, are taking real words he's used but spinning them into the worst possible context as if Trump believes the worst about the every-day solider, when his beef is really with the military leadership. The anonymous sources (most likely Kelly or Mattis) want to make it seem like Trump is degrading every platoon commander who gets killed in battle as some "loser", and that's simply not at all believable. So you are free to agree or disagree with Trump's assessment of the top generals and military policy makers. But that's all this is about, despite what the Fake News is rambling on about.

It appears likely he said something because there’s multiple people saying he said it. Even Fox News is reporting it.

The thing is people like Jennifer Griffin are getting confirmed stories from first hand sources and Griffin is one of the last few good tv news reporters left. It’s pretty damning to me. You can take from it what you will and yes, The Atlantic can be in my opinion a little questionable sometimes in their reporting but when others are saying the same thing it starts looking likely to have happened. At this point, with as much diarrhea of the mouth as he has, nothing surprises me.

But Fox News called the article fair and down the middle. I tend to vote more republican than democrat but trump is a fraud. I’m not saying everyone should run out and vote Biden but you don’t have to tote trump’s water constantly.

Thats fair, i havent watched much news the last few days, And I agree Jennifer is one of the good ones. I still think he could have said it to a few that he trusted. One only has to remember the comments to Billy Bush. Trump is one of those that says so much that I try to judge and pay more attention to what he does than what he says. Much like the Billy Bush comments, its the timing of the reports that makes some wonder.

The Trump water toting is what gets me.
I voted for Bush in 2000 and, while I’ve voted for the Democratic candidate in every election since, I at least understood why people voted for Bush, McCain, and Romney.

I really can’t rationalize how an intelligent person looks at Donald Trump and says “yes, this is a person fully capable of handling the duties of President of the United States of America”. He was less qualified than Hillary (yeah yeah I know “but her emails!” “but Benghazi!” Blow me.) and is even less qualified than Biden (“but he sniffed hair!”). There are smart and capable Republicans out there, but some of y’all are tying yourselves to a total 17ing idiot.

Without question. To believe otherwise is to willingly ignore reality or you’ve spent too much time breathing in your own ********.

Physically, one runs and bikes daily and the other is a fatass that can’t walk down stairs and holds a cup like a 17ing child. Before you start sending every gaffe or misstatement Biden ever made or some dumbass meme you think is fire (it ain’t), I can go gaffe for gaffe and point out every time Trump slurred or said something really stupid like “Yo-sem-ite”. Let’s save everybody on the board that useless exercise, shall we?

Please read the recently completed, bipartisan, Senate Intelligence Committee report on Russian interference in the 2016 election, then come back and explain why you think investigation into this matter was wasted time and money. Dont read summaries of the report, read the actual report.

Congress' mistake was in rushing to impeach Trump rather than fighting the administration's obstruction efforts and getting the information it needed.

I would be more in the camp that neither is fit to be president but you do you, man.

Agree. Might be best to vote for best VP, and Pence is far more sane and centrist than Harris. Harris comes across as kind and gentle, but what she supports doesn't follow suit. Pence would be a good president and commander in chief.

No need to carry water for Trump anymore. If you can’t see all the good he has done for the country you never will and probably believe the Obama administration was “scandal free.” As progressive as the left claims to be the best the could come up with was a white guy who has been in government for 47 years and now all the sudden is going to fix problems has has had 47 years to fix. Biden is an absolute joke. Trump is a jackass but we finally have someone that somewhat looks after the American tax payer and follows through with most of his promises
