One of my favorite players ever. I also think he would have been an allstar if he played in the 90s, or even early 2000s.

left it all out there every time. early in the year he would go hard to the rim, fall and look like he broke something. and i'd get freaked out. by the end of the year i would just laugh

Remember when Cal said during a post game or weekly coach’s show that MKG acted “like he was shot” whenever he hit the floor?:joy:

One of the toughest kids to ever put on a Kentucky uniform. He had a problem with his shoulder popping out of socket. I remember him saying it had happened so many time that he would just pop it back in himself and keep playing. But good lord, every time he fell to floor he made it look like a season ending injury.

Man. Idk if I have ever seen a comment on this board that I can relate to more than this. Last time it happened was against Louisville. He went down early in immense pain and my dad immediately said “well, there goes our title”, or something to that effect. I just smiled and said nah, he will be just fine.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was such an awesome player all around, I remember one game he had like 20 pts 20 rebounds.... him and Darius Miller were my favorites on that team, both our SF. Our best SF duo in the Cal Era

MKG has a birthday coming up on the 26th … I have a birthday this month only reason I know that.

MKG always seemed so humble … I know he didn't like public speaking or something/ was shy. But I remember the story about his uncle having the heart attach the day he signed with UK and it was very emotional signing

That pic is one of my all time faves, along with AD swatting the shot looking like he's 9'11" tall.
