I don't know. He has 1 year as a head coach in a terrible conference. Took an 11-2 team to 12-1. Coached for some decent, but nothing spectacular, NC State teams for 3 years before that. May be a good hire, but it's a big risk.

I’m always wary of hiring guys with such a small sample size. Same reason I was never on the Napier train. Drinkwitz inherited a team that was already loaded and just didn’t screw it up. He’s never had to build a program up. Risky hire in my opinion.

He had a great year, but his resume is awfully light. Mizzou made a huge gamble with him. I would’ve been pissed if this is who we ended up with.

You are right, but their options were always going to be a huge gamble, a retread or a loser. Look around at who's getting hired. We'll be the in the same boat when we move on from Joe. We'll have to gamble on a green G5 head coach or a P5 Coordinator that has never been a head coach at this level before. Tough job for these ADs making hires.

A loaded team that he didn’t manage to screw up? Hmmm that’s a novel thought.

Honestly, looking at who got hired into the SEC this year, I'm a little less pissed off that we kept Moorhead.

No question. These lower tier SEC jobs pay well but they can also be grave yards. Ole Miss has fired its last five coaches. Up and comers are getting smarter at picking their spots. Case in point, Joe Brady. He’s likely to stay at LSU until a plum comes along.
