We are a week out from the first games of the season and yesterday I found myself reviewing my off-season thoughts. (scary) It was encouraging to hear several coaches, at least a half-dozen or more, tell me they had new players on their teams, students who hadn't been out for football before this year. That is great news for those programs and our sport in general.
On the other hand I talk with one top ten coach and he tells me he has almost no underclassmen (freshmen, sophomores) on his roster. He has some pretty darn good first-team players but little depth.
