That Padres lineup looks pretty deadly. Moreland probably playing a little above his head so far though.

Good landing spot for him. Gives him a shot to at least compete for title this season. He’s having a great season, hopefully he can keep that up.

Nice. San Diego is a nice place to retire if you can afford it. Mitch always seemed like the guy to like the country life though.

He will fit in well there. Lots of doubles to be had in that ballpark. Just going off memory it seems that the ball flys better to RF than to LF unless you hit it down the line. Great division for a doubles machine with ballparks like Coors, Arizona, SF, and Dodger stadium.

Mitch has a home in the Birmingham area where his wife is from. I don’t think that he has ever moved his family to the cities that he has played in. Who knows what he will do once he retires but Mitch isn’t the SoCal type.

Has he been hurt? I just can fathom why he hasn’t had more ABs with his production this year.

He can’t hit lefties and doesn’t start against them.

Saying he “can’t hit lefties” might be a bit of a reach. .257 career hitter vs. righties and .240 vs. lefties. Yeah he’s better against RH pitching, but so is just about every other LH hitter out there except the elite guys. It’s not exactly a huge gap. Could be that Boston just had a solid option to platoon with him, and some young guys coming along that made him replaceable. But he was pretty much an every day player from 2013 - 2018 for the Rangers and Red Sox.

Boston has platooned him the whole time hes been in Boston. Sometimes with great success (Steve Pearce WS run). Sometimes not so much....

I cant understand why theyve done it this year though. Hes the only guy other than Boegartz hitting at all

Exactly he’s leading the team in HR with half the ABs. If he had the minimum ABs he’d be top 25 in all major offensive categories. I know it’s a tiny sample size but he is batting .375 against lefties this year.
