It will probably be something like that but Mitchell may score more. McDowell has to play better on special teams to have any chance at all. We had 495 total yards against RS including over 300 on the ground. McDowell also had 2 drives stall inside the RS 25. RS had similar speed to Erwin at RB and WR (and the secondary) but not as good up front as most MAC or WHC teams. McDowell had a lot of 20-25 yard runs that were stopped from being even longer runs or TDs because of the secondary speed of RS.
If the Titans play mistake free football and cut the penalties and special teams mistakes they can keep it close for a bit. But Mitchell will wear them down.

Inasmuch Mitchell, as small school in the poor little 1A, should never be more than a flea on the Titans back. I'll picked that poor bunch from Mitchell by 3 tds.
Early games are tuff to tell. But it's hard to know if the McDowell win means much if R-S Central isn't any better than their 2 - 6 team from last year which looking at their roster on MaxPreps with all of their starting RB's from last year graduating plus with out of the 36 players this year that 10 are freshman doesn't inspire that they will be any better.
I don't think anyone believes McDowell is a real threat to Mitchell but they play hard and have a good shot at 4 or 5 wins with their schedule (North Buncombe, East Rutherford, and Avery should be wins and Enka, maybe TC and Erwin are toss ups). RS wasn't great but will win some games if they get their defense shored up a bit. They have some dangerous pieces just need better line play.
Progress is incremental at McDowell. They also have some really talented JV players and Middle schoolers so those 1 win or 0 win seasons may be a thing of the past for the Titans.
It’s such a shame that it took McDowell this long to find a coach that cares about a football program. I like the current coach. I hope it continues to grow, but for now things will slowly come together for the neighbors down the mountain.
We have a couple of kids out, I'd say mccarthy pulls out his Mitchell playbook and keeps it close, Mitchell in a barnburner by 7 and that's if it's not lightning delayed like the last 3 times we played em lol
McCartha is a good offensive coach. He went to McDowell about the same time I was there. If any of you Mitchell folks want to meet up during or before the game send me a message
I may come it's hard for me this year but I kinda want to see this game
I hope McDowell turns it around. I think they are headed in the right direction. They’ve basically installed Mitchell’s offense since McCartha went back. I can’t remember the last time they had as many rushing yards as last week.
It's definitely similar to Mitchell's offense with the misdirection

We have always had the star on the helmet but usually its with the M in the center and not blue and silver like the cowboys.Looks like they may have crossed franchising rights with the helmet

Wouldn’t be a McDowell Mitchell game in Marion without some weather event along the banks of the majestic Catawba River. Just like it wouldn’t be McDowell Mitchell game in Ledger without some infamous scoreboard malfunction back in the day.
McDowell keeps making crucial mistakes and penalties at the worst time but Mitchell can play a lot better too. It will be an interesting 2nd half.

McDowell had a chance and a great first half, they definitely are much improved good luck rest of the way Titanman without stupid penalty and turnovers you would have led at the half, I always try to keep it real with you, next two weeks for Mitchell gonna be TOUGH

I really like that Young kid at rb. He is special. I hope Turbyfill is ok he is limping pretty bad
Not sure he is setting on the bench. I don't understand leaving him in there like they surely the back up can hand the ball off which is all he did after getting up limping.
Even though the scoreboard doesn't show it, this is the toughest McDowell has played Mitchell in a long time. They just make too many mistakes and dont know how to keep up the level of play to hang with Mitchell

How would you compare McDowell and Erwin? I'm sure they have a lot of speed but we have a decent running game
1st half titans looked as good as Erwin IMO. Erwin is faster, but the Titans had good ground n pound. Turnovers killed their drives. McDowell's line looked better. Erwins secondary, especially on defense, looked better.
