Barry may not have been grerat shooting, Phil either, but I wouldn't have traded what they did for any player on our team that would have replaced them. They probably played harder than any other players on the floor and were fantastic on defense (although they didn't rack up steals).
Osby could have used some more minutes.

he didn't take stupid shots. Barry did and he made mistakes during the most crucial parts of the game. That entry pass to Jarvis in regulation after we called a timeout was horrible. If it's not open, you don't have to pass it. And then, on some crucial possessions, he thought it was a good idea to try to create his own shot. I will go ahead and say now, it's not. He got his **** swatted on fall away J.

Stewart played strong D, went 8-8 from the line and had 9 rebounds. 6'2" 170 and he has nine rebounds. Pick apart somebody else's game. </p>

How about Bost? There was a stretch in the first half where he just killed us. And then with a chance to clinch it, he misses a layup.</p>

Where's Ravern? I don't think he could guard you. If he's not hitting, he's useless. </p>

Let's turn to Jarvis. For all his heroics, he misses the FT that might have won it in regulation.

because Bost actually scored points and contributed on both ends. Jarvis scored 31 and played great D. The only one I agree with you is Ravern.

I don't hate Stewart. His D is very good but it wasn't like we were really stopping LSU in OT.

This point isn't lost on some of us, especially with the refs dictating the way the game was played down the stretch and in overtime. It would have been really easy to lose focus and effort.

My point is that Stewart shouldn't be singled out. Everybody, save Ravern, made big plays. Everybody also made some mistakes. There was a woman behind me cussing Varnado for missing the FT and then fouling out (some of the stupidest **** I've ever heard, her husband looked humiliated). The guy beside me went on and on about Bost's 1st half and then, of course, the missed layup. You've picked Stewart. That's my point. </p>

I didn't see the game last night. However, I would be interested to see how well guarded the missed shots were. People are over simiplifing when they say we just didn't make our shots or they were just hot. I know I have said it on here before. But there is a reason for it. It is called defense or lack there of. There is a reason we shot well vs the worst team in the league and bad vs the best team. It isn't just a coincidence.

Barry seems like a great guy. However, I have never liked his offensive game. He is not a good enough athlete to create off the dribble or jump over someone to shoot. Therefore when he faces off against better athletes he has a game like last night.

because on the court in crucial situations, his ill advised shots killed us. He isn't the one that needs to be taking them. I think that is my main point. He just doesn't need to be looking for his shot. I can take Bost's drive because he had been doing it all night. Kind of like how we ran a play for Brian Johnson in the 2nd OT. That just isn't the time to be running your offense through him.

Futaba, Appreciate where you are coming from about not singling out a player, but dang.

Barry has HORRIBLE turnovers at the most inopportune times, and it wasn't in just this game. And it was him that was getting abused at the end of the game when LSU would run a pick and Barry would switch and get stuck trying to stop Mitchell. Granted, nobody else could stop the guy so I don't know what else to do.....But Barry's D was not his saving grace. He was the one that got his shot smooth rejected multiple times, he was the one with his head down in huddle, he is the one who went 1-13, he is the one who kept shooting....all with nothing from Coach Stans. I am reminded of Henig with 6 pics in one game...by God, that was against LSU too wasn't it?

On my team Turner would play the 2 with specific instructions to leave all dribble penetration to Bost. Augustus, Johnson, and Osby would rotate at 4 (and at times 3) giving us specifically scoring options and rebounding potential far better than what Barry has provided. Augustus was 1-1 from 3 last night. He shot well in limited playing vs olemiss and they really couldn't stop him? Why in the hell have we not seen him in again in the second half? He plays hard and physical and these are the characteristics that are beating the *** of Ravern (WNBA) Phil (giving up 40-60 lbs and 6") and Barry (as you stated he is a little guy and he plays WEAK). I want Barry to sit down and watch a highlight tape of Charles Rhodes dunking with two hands and screaming as he does it. They have it somewhere. Make him watch it on repeat.........over and over. Man, it kills me because I really like coach Stansbury and I respect his ability to bring talent to Starkville and win lots of games, but we are so close and just can't get it.

We obviously lack quality depth at the 2 - 3 positions. I am suggesting that we fix this by playing more bigs, especially against aggressive teams like LSU, AU, and Olemiss. Coach Stans may have good reasons for not doing this?

Would an athletic Delk twin have been able to help us defensively last night against LSU's two scorers? Would Hans 3 pt % have been better than 1-13? ouch.

You see that first column with the heading TOT-FG? That means total field goals and encompasses every shot taken from the field. The next column is for 3-point FGs, which is a subset of the aforementioned total category. You don't add the two together to get total attempts and total made. Surely you knew that.
