The Mitch hate is so ridiculous. Dude revived UK football, got Cal and has improved every sport at UK. WTF you people want? Some people are just miserable FuC$DS

Honest question. But how was football revived? Stoops been here 15 years and never even won the East. Is there that big a difference in winning 7 games instead of 4 when four of those are absolute cupcakes every year?

Mitch deserves everything he gets and then some

Already 4 million pledged confirmed by Mitch.

People don’t get this. These programs are machines. It elevates coaches. I wouldn’t have had the balls to do this but it’s entirely possible this is going to be a grand slam.

He’s already got recruits calling wanting to come that he couldn’t get to BYU.

I’m telling this fanbase I get the frustration but many of you have no idea how this actually works. We’ve got way more NIL coming now because Calipari is gone. They are gonna throw it at Pope because he’s such a great guy. The offense is going to be insane so

1. NIL not an issue now
2. The Kentucky brand
3. Top modern offense and Pitino style defense.

Trust me kids are going to play here. And then this guy CAN F’N COACH THEM.
But, but, but,........he's not Cal.....Wah, wah, wah. Lol.
Great post. I tried telling them all last night. They just don't want to hear anything short of Cal is coming back.

I am sooooooo glad that POS is at Arkansas. He is their problem now.

"Upper tier". We already know how Mitch defines "upper tier". He had Mark Pope as his 3rd coaching candidate.

Upper tier at BYU is 3-star ceiling, except the one kid who hasn't played ball in 2 years due to his mission requirement. And even then, he's just a 4-star (although he was ranked 33 in some high school list 2 years ago).
Okay, Miss Eh Bull.

Recruiting just went south.
Maybe NIL transfers but getting in on top 20 guys in high school? He couldn't recruit them at BYU. Pope is an unknown in high level high school recruiting.
go to Arkansas board if you wanna worry about recruiting. Recruiting sure didn’t help us when Oakland and a d2 player smoked us

Pretty strong statement saying that 'we will win championships.' Liked the comment about the players having a heart for UK. Kind of what Hurley said he recruits. 'Program' and 'team' will make a big difference in the atmosphere and excitement part. Can take losses better if the guys play with great heart.

It isn't recruiting I am worried about. With the style Pope plays, you don't need a roster full of elite 5 star athletes. Fundamentally solid guys who are smart and can shoot are what is required. Pope can get those kind of guys, especially with the kind of NIL money UK can provide. The real question is, is Mark Pope a good enough coach to win at a high level? That is a question that remains unanswered, since he has yet to win a single NCAA tournament game. Hiring someone so unproven is an enormous risk. That is why so many people flipped out when we made the jump from Drew/Hurley/Donovan and went straight down the to the guy most people would have at 50th or 75th on their list of choices, bypassing other coaches who have at least been to Final Fours and Elite 8s.
I just have a feeling that this is going to be a great hire. Genuinely.

The more I have let this settle, the more it is the right decision. He came from a restrictive school and won. Hell, he beat Gonzaga, even Cal hasn’t done that. Sure he lost the other eight games to them, but lol

Anyway, I’m actually excited now about this hire. I want to see a coach who can actually coach. Beating Kansas at Kansas btw is no small feat.

RECRUITING is important but also evaluating true talent and good coaching that fits into the current college game and not by how many stars a player has is what is MOST important!!!!

UK had THREE recruits this year rated #2, #3 and #6 (per Rivals) and all it got us was a loss in SEC tourney and a BIG EFFIN LOSS in the NCAA by primarily a dude that was a ZERO STAR out of high school who will be an all-star at the Y and in his church league next year!!!!

Mitch has brought UK down to a maybe program. Instead of top tier guys, Pope May succeed here, May be able to recruit, May beat other bluebloods, Maybe, Maybe. Maybe he can but I would expect better from the number 1 program.

I haven’t followed UK basketball for the last 4-5 years. I can honestly say I am looking forward to next season.

I don't believe this.. Pope was not recruiting "upper tier guys". Maybe a dude in the 50s or 60s but no upper tier guy
The amount of things you know, that you couldn't possibly know is astounding.

Nice 2nd message. You don't seem troll like at all.
PS. Nobody can recruit 5 stars to a strict Mormon school.

How many 5 star did Purdue and Uconn have in their lineup?
