I think there should be some fiduciary duty or obligation to report incapacitation to someone.
Agreed, Piggy. But that will have to be imposed by legislation, I believe. I don't care what the legislator's party affiliation is. If he or she is a zombie or in a coma, he or she needs to cease being an officeholder. It's a frickin' embarrassment.

I read Adam Cochran's analysis of the situation and I have to say that it sounds too diabolical to be credited. It means that Elaine Chao is absenting herself from the United States so that her husband's apparent vegetative existence can be prolonged, and purely for political reasons. Maybe Donald Trump could do that, but I want to believe that Elaine Chao is not capable of that. Her husband is dying, fer Chrissake.

We would also have to believe it is all because Thomas Massie would definitely throw his hat in the ring for McConnell's seat. Massie just got primaried, no? What makes anyone think Massie could win that Senate election? We're talking about Tennessee, after all. (Edit: Oh, wait. It's Kentucky. Tennessee, Kentucky, Tomato, Tomahto.)

I really hope that I am not mistaken. That narrative is so pathetic that it reminds me of burying your deceased wife behind the ninth green of your golf course so you could get a property tax reduction.

how are the worthless scribblers of the corporate-controlled media not asking a million questions about this?

in the absence of facts, all we have is speculation. so let’s take that speculation to the darkest place possible: what if Mitch McConnell is already dead, and his handlers are keeping it a secret?

here’s where it gets super f.ucking ghoulish — because if Old Glitch is not just merely dead, but really most sincerely dead, Republicans have ample reason for keeping that fact hidden.

apparently, the thinking goes, Republicans hate Thomas Massie so much that they’re perpetrating a massive cover-up just so he can’t run in the special election that would be called if McConnell’s death (or resignation due to incapacitation) were announced prior to August 3rd.

yes, that’s how much Republicans totally f.ucking suck.

now, consider this: how deliciously ironic would it be if the shitweasel who politicized the deaths of Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and exploited those deaths for his own party’s advantage, ended up having his own corpse being used as a political pawn?

and on that note, let’s give the final word to Bluesky user Ian Boudreau, who wins the entire internet with this comment.

“he died doing what he loved best.”

he did, didn’t he?
They are doing it to hurt Trump. Massie is a non factor.

not sure why you're SMH...you agree with the statement that Trump is 6'3'' and weighs 224, it that he passed his cognitive test...

or you disagree with the statement that Trump and Biden are to old, that someone posted a listing, or that the senator from Iowa, who is older than both trump and Biden, is also to old??
Wait. WTF, Ned. Joe Biden is a private citizen. And Donald Trump weighs, conservatively, over 265 pounds.

Its Kentucky but you are right about Massie. He got totally pounded in his reelection primary. Trump will be heavily involved in deciding his replacement imo.

Most think it would be unbelievable, but those opinions were formed because of his previous actions if you ask me. He was a politically conniving guy and I wouldn’t put it past him or his handlers.

His maneuvering around SCOTUS appointments is partially responsible for today’s political hostility imo.

Incapacitation should not be allowed to happen without being reported. Maybe it can be a binpartisian issue. After Biden and McConnell maybe people will come together.
