It’s just utter stupidity. And it can’t be defended by the record. Scott Drew is prime for a job like this. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t know a thing about it. Baylor was an absolute nasty program without a prayer and he turned them into a power. You give him the Kentucky name and he’d win more than Calipari has.
drew is mediocre and would be a disaster if we were stuck with him. we'd just be counting down the time till we get rid of him too.

The dedication part will be hard to judge prior to actually being on the job.

“Proven” Only names mentioned who’ve won a title are Donavan, Hurley, and Drew.

We know that only one of those is truly available. So it seems like a fait accompli at this point.

Will Hurley embrace the importance? Not so sure he would. Sounds like his wife is pure New Jersey / "back east". And he's already mentioned getting to the Knicks and this dynasty at UCONN. Give it one more year and then hope he can take on the NBA is my guess. WILL HE SAY YES: NOPE.

How about Drew? Meh, it's not like Baylor will ever overtake TEXAS or A&M as the favorite college in the state. They're all football anyway. And personally I think Drew would not be excited about the pressure at Kentucky. WILL HE SAY YES: NOPE.

Oats: He should know, and it would be quite the shun to our Blue Blood egos if he was offered Calipari money but still said nope, he's staying at Bama. WILL HE SAY YES: 50/50

Donovan - He knows, he lived it for 5 years and then coached against it for a few more. WILL HE SAY YES: 20/80

Pearl - we really don't have to say much here. Pearl knows. WILL HE SAY YES: HELL YES

Beard - he just went through a train wreck experience at Texas, but I think he is a winner and fully understands the demands of a program like Kentucky. WILL HE SAY YES: 80/20

Smart - he's full of energy and seems to do very well in his first 3-4 years at each stop, then starts to decline. Not one of my favorite choices, but I'd welcome him and see what he could do. WILL HE SAY YES: HELL YES

Pitino - definitely knows the fans and the program, but is 100 years old and has TONS of baggage. Mitch won't even approach the guy, nor will his committee. However, for the sake of making sure we cover all bases: WILL HE SAY YES: HELL YES

Shaka Smart has been to 1 final four and 1 Sweet 16 in his entire coaching history.

Ostelzberger at Iowa State is a winner.

Don't take him lightly.

He would get it done.
