I just read Joel Coleman’s article on SI about that game and I saw Madkins remarks about what the pregame was like and it made me think.... Does anyone know who the person was that yelled “Go to Hell Bin Laden, go to Hell” during the moment of silence? Or were you close to him? For some weird reason I have often wondered who it was. It is a pretty iconic moment in State history.

I was in the end zone bleachers. I remember it seeming to come from pretty close by near the NW part of the stadium. Could it have been in the visitor section?

I believe it came from the west side towards the north end.

It may have been me. I made a sign that read
“ Go the hell (Crossed out Ole Miss) Bin Laden” Seems like I yelled that a good bit during the game. We sat in section C back then

I know the guy. Actually a big Auburn alum/fan transplanted to Starkville at the time. He’s a fun guy - pretty loud by nature. Guess that showed. Talk about a tension breaker.

You are correct. We actually had pretty good seats at that game, and it was to the left of us on the home side.

This is correct. And if it's any help, it was a very deep southern accent. I remember hearing Hell as "hail." Not poking fun. Just always stuck out to me.

At the time, that section was reserved for the visitors. It's likely that it wasn't a State fan who yelled it.

Yes. He was in what is now section 7. At the time it was G.

He timed me it just right. Gave just enough time for the moment of silence.

I’ve posted this before - but I swear my heart stopped for a second thinking he was gonna say gthom

I remember thinking ‘oh 17’ then was relieved a second later when he said ben laden instead.
