Maryland, with a mediocre team plus a rookie QB, looks way more formidable than the gophers. (Based upon watching the BTN 60-minute replays that I love, of Minnesota vs bottom-dweller Purdue. Hell. If you put them on record you FF through breaks and get done even faster.)

On O, Minnie’s QB is immobile, and a barely average passer. Most of their borderline chunk plays result from 10-ish yard completions against the zone. Maybe Purdue has superior DBs, but against man Minnie sucked. Lots of play action. Their #1, the RB, is good catching short throws out of the backfield. And is a decent runner. But their OL on both runs and passes looks almost as bad as ours.

The D? Mediocre throughout. #17 has some ints, so that’s worth keeping in mind. No standouts in any other phase of the game. Fwiw, Purdue’s somewhat mobile QB gave them headaches. Against us that shouldn’t be a concern.

On STs, their Ausie style punter does not look terribly adept at anything. I’m betting Ekeler has something dialed up for him. Kicker made kicks he should make.

Imho, this is another game we should dominate. Kinda what I thought going into Cinci and Maryland. No. 21 should have another huge game. DR should too—as long as Minnie DBs are not catching his passes.

We SHOULD win this one going away. So, obviously, it’ll likely go down to the wire.

Fleck will play good defense, limit turnovers, play field position, and control the clock. This is why Minnesota has beat us the past 5 games.

You are waaaay too confident on this one.

Watch the Nebraska v Maryland replay and then watch the Purdue v Minnesota replay. The difference in speed between Maryland and Minnesota is insane. Minnesota is slow but is opportunistic. Nebraska "should" win by double digits.

Purdue—yes Purdue—had well over 400 yard total offense.

I’m not saying we will dominate. Because … Nebraska … But if we don’t it’s pretty sad.

Purdue was close to doubling their yardage and lost by 7 lol. Purdue threw 3 picks. We have to play clean or this will turn into an alley fight.
Yep. Our Maryland would've looked a lot different without 3 ints. Take care of the ball and we should be good. But Friday night, plus a distraction or two, has me nervous.

I'm more worried about the short week after a road game the previous week, and a Friday night game. A lot of breaks in routine for the guys, and people will be slightly more sore and tired than usual. As far as I can tell we haven't won the 2nd game of a back to back since they started doing them in the big 10. Obviously we have been terrible, especially on the road in conference so that stat doesn't really matter.

Agree. Two road wins in a row would be our first in 19 years. And minus a day of rest/prep increases degree of difficulty.

Even so, Minnesota is not a good team. If we are a good team, we should win going away.

Nebraska *should* have their way with Minnesota, for the most part. Whether or not they do is TBD. Minnesota has owned this series the last 10 years. That changes Friday night.

I think this is the game Nebraska puts it all together vs a power 4. Dominant road win. Thinking somewhere in the 45-9 range maybe worse. Minnesota is t good and Nebraska, like it or not is a good football team. Capable of winning out. Not likely but they will be capable of beating MINN, NW, USC, UCLA, PSU, Io a. I actually think they're likely to go 5-1. This isnt a weak team. They won't fold on the bad days. They will make mistakes but they won't fold to the pressure.

Just look at all of the things that Nebraska teams from the last 7-9 years have struggled with, then look at the results this year, no one on the Nebraska team is worried at all about 2nd games of back to back road games. The short week is an old man issue because you can’t handle traveling a Saturday night then again on Wednesday night. WTF these are 18-22 year old kids. When I was that age, I was flying 13 hour sorties with 8 hrs of rest on the front end, then landing and drinking for 5 hours before going to bed again for another 8 hour crew rest. Being tired is a weak *** excuse when you have 3-4 full days to rest up before the next game.

That was one of a few of Rhule's year 1 games that we had won and literally gave away. Even with Sims it's hard to believe we lost that one.

I don’t think it’s immaterial. Home field advantage is real. Being disadvantaged two weeks in a row is an issue.

Visiting creates more complications in the week-to-week game prep. Such complications not only two weeks in row but also minus a day the second time round is another issue.

A few years ago there were some stats that showed a correlation between two away games with just one home game in between and an increased chance of losses. If that was the case, I gotta figure two in a row with one day eliminated before the second also presents a challenge.

All that said, Minnesota is a mediocre team. We’d like to think NU is better than mediocre. We’ve got some momentum going too. A loss would be very disappointing.

One thing that gives me confidence is how poorly Minnesota has been running the ball this year. 115th in rushing offense and in their three Big 10 games, they've average less than 45 total rushing yards per game and it seems like their QB is a complete non-threat on the ground. Relying on the passing game (which isn't exactly lighting the world on fire either) to move the ball plays into our strength on defense so one would think they should have trouble sustaining drives and scoring points. That said, it seems like every time I point out something like this, the team goes on to rush for 450 yards so who knows.

A convincing win tonight would provide more evidence Nebraska has turned the corner. In year's past, this is a team Nebraska would lose to. Win tonight and one can begin believing the upswing is real. GBR!

I watched a replay of their Purdue game. They got zero push up front. They hit some shorter passes but tried a bunch of deeper fades and go routes that pretty much all were incomplete.

The matchup that worries me is their pass rush vs our OL. They regularly got pressure and had Purdue's QB on the run. He's many, many times a better runner than Raiola.

However, Purdue was able to run the ball fairly easily with their RB, so Johnson should have plenty of success.

My hope for this game is that once we get ahead the defense will not **** the bed 30 seconds after we kick the ball off. We have to learn not to let up once we get ahead. Put a team away. And for God's sake, lets hope Matt can figure out not to:

1. Never, ever, EVER run the ball on 4th and 1 or 2. We all know how that story ends.
2. Do not call any other bone headed, ill timed fake punts or other jackassery.
3. Learn the finer points of managing time outs and the end of each half.

First and foremost, I'm a dumbass.

I bought in... I drank the Kool Aid and thought Nebraska was turning the corner. **** Matt Rhule. He's Fleck's *****. He wants to be buddies with everyone and then they all beat his ***. I don't want to hear his ******** PC because he's a poser.

TJ Lateef deserved snaps tonight. Raiola's Mahome's crap is getting very old. He looks like a drunken carnival worker staggering around in the lion's den.
