Yep, couldn’t stand the thread with Minnisota spelling.

Some thoughts: game is going to be cold and snowy but we did well in games like that last year. (Michigan State comes to mind)

No matter how I sliced the stats, there just isn’t enough data on Minnesota to make a determination on how good they are. They seem solid but have not encountered anyone decent yet. I dropped SDSU out of the stats so they only have 4 games to review. They could be world beaters but the just isn’t enough data to tell. If they were really good they would have been blowing out their opponents but have not been. If we had their schedule we would most likely be undefeated..

Sooo. I’m going with a tossup game with offenses slowed by the cold. Minnesota gives up points and our defense can slow their offense to allow us to capitalize.

Huskers 27-21

Thoughts?

I’d be surprised if they win. Very surprised and I’ll be very happy to be wrong

Vedral plays with the heart of a champ and shows the leader he is and we roll to a big win! Afterwords, while strolling in lovely downtown Minneapolis the team encounter several Somalis and they shoot a spontaneous music video thats NOT overrated! Win win for everyone! And they lived happily ever after. Theee end.

Minnesota has a couple of bruisers at RB and arguably the best set of WRs in the B10. Morgan is starting to roll at QB. Important to get pressure on him. Their OL is big (including the 6ft 10 400 monster at T). They run a wildcat in the red zone with their TE, a converted QB.

Their defense is inconsistent but improved since the last match-up. Nothing special on DL. Carter Coughlin is a hammer at LB who they like to blitz. Secondary is pretty salty and Antoine Winfield is a high draft pick.

Martinez gives N the best chance to win.
With Martinez - tossup, lean Minnesota at TCF Bank
With Vedral - Minnesota by 10

Fleck is a clown. At least once this game you will have a strong desire to punch him in the nuts but he has the players believing so I expect a lot energy. UM enrollment is 50K+ located in a metro area of more than 3million but they have had trouble filling a small stadium. It will be interesting to see how much red is in the stands this weekend.

If the key is getting pressure on their quarterback, we're in for a long night.

Minnesota has three very good WRs and three very good RBs, plus a QB that can throw it deep and make good decisions. They also have a couple of good LBs, Winfield at DB and the rest of the defense is unknown, but several of of the TDs this year were on turnovers, not on the defense. Minnesota is rotating about 22 plus on defense all the time, so the results are uneven.

They beat Fresno State on the road and I would not undervalue that win too much.

Minnesota will not fill the stadium until they win the Big Ten West at least once. The metro may have 3.6M people but this is a Vikings town 95 percent and they rule the roost. The Twins when winning, the Wild, and the Timberwolves soak up the rest of the cash with the Gopher Hockey and Basketball competing for the rest. This is not Boston, Philly, LA, Dallas or even Houston. The Gophers are in a tough market and if they do not win big they get ignored. Pretending the Gophers live in a Lincoln or Iowa City environment is dishonest.

Urban or close by urban P5 schools like UCLA, Pitt, Miami Northwestern, Ga Tech, Boston College, Arizona State, Colorado, Stanford, and even the Washington and USC suffer when they lose over long period of time. Minnesota, with 53,000 students (many international and graduate) is no exception to this reality.\\\

Minnesota adds to the overall series lead:

MN 33 Nebraska 20

30-17 Huskers. The only chance Minnesota has is if we have a -2 turnover margin.

We get off to another slow start and they jump on us early. We try to battle back but in the end, we can’t make enough plays offensively to keep up.

I'll go with...

NU - 21

Minnesota - 17

I think our defense, while nowhere close to great, is still much improved from last year and is salty. They'll hold their own I think.

Our offense.....well......"somehow" HCSF will figure out someway to get 3 Tds "and" essentially they've got nowhere to go but up. Haha.....nothing objective I know but I still believe. Winking

GBR!!

What I'd be happy to see:
No fear of failure.
Guess: NU 34 MN 24

What I hope we don't see:
Extremely conservative playing calling and missed field goals/extra points.
Guess: MN 24 NU 13

I'm not sure what the last 75% of that has to do with the game.

Gophers have arguably the best WR trio in the conference and our 3rd string RB had over 1,000 yards last season. “Very good” for both positions is accurate.

Nebraska’s D-Line has to be the difference in this game. MN run to pass ratio is something like 65/35. Our LBs need to watch film from the NW game and get that fixed. We play upfield like that and bite that bad on the zone read and we’ll be in trouble. I think NU 21-17.
