Must go to Rapid City to Alex Johnson Hotel, roof top bar and old cowpoke decor. Not far from Sturgis and motorcycle heaven, but MUST see Crazy Horse statue (never to be finished) and museum with unbelievable Old West photos and relics. That's real Murica.

It does...one stop away (Stadium Village Stop to Prospect Park Stop). Prospect Park stop is about 2 blocks from Malcolm Ave, which is where Surly is.
The hotel and brewery are ~1.1 miles apart by foot (per google maps) and the brewery is 1/3 of a mile from the Prospect Park stop on the green line. The light rail probably runs every 10 minutes or so...so I would guess you would pay $3.50 for two each way and it is probably a 15-20 minute venture.
By cab/uber it is probably $6-7 (maybe less) and a 3 minute car ride.
Either way is fine...
A couple places I would suggest (I'm a MN local): For a Juicy Lucy, I would suggest the 5-8 Club (South Cedar - next to airport). You can also get a taste of the Minnesota Lakes by walking from the 5-8 up to Lake Nokomis (3 blocks). It's not as peaceful as other lakes (airport noise), but a nice 2-mile walk around the lake.
If you really want to get a "lakes experience", I would suggest the chain of lakes south of D.T Minneapolis. Lake Calhoun always has the most going on and the people watching is outstanding - it's a 3-mile walk around.
For breakfast, I would suggest the New Louisiana Cafe in St. Paul (Selby & Dale). If you're in to hearty breakfasts, that's the place.
One place that hasn't been mentioned on Gameday is Blarney's Pub about 1/2 mile from the stadium. It's a great Irish college pub that is great on days of game. Nice selection of Whiskey/Bourbon too. The appetizers there will be enough to fill you up. Good selection of beer.
The other places that have been mentioned are all good, but these are some of the local favorites that are out of the way.
A couple more places: if you like eclectic/crazy I'd check out Betty Dangers in NE Minneapolis. Psycho Suzi's has a great Bloody Mary Bar (also in NE Mpls).

I always give opposing fans the same advice. When visiting Minnesota for a game, get yourself an Uber and tell the driver to take you to The Nineties. It's a really friendly and courteous place. They'll even push in your stool.

Eastern European food, kind of a deli atmosphere. I'd say if you are going to Surdyk's to get drinks or something, it would be worth the trip. Otherwise, you'll have to determine whether or not you'd be better off getting that type of food back home. Of course I am assuming that you are A. Coming from New Jersey, and B. that there are many places like this in or near New Jersey.

I'm not an expert, but 3 metro courses that are excellent:

Both Prestwick and Stoneridge are more hilly and challenging. Both have great "19th Hole" facilities. Oak Marsh is flatter with more water. I would choose Prestwick or Stoneridge. You'll see some great fall colors and those two courses are in excellent shape.
Baker National a very nice public course that isn't that expensive.

Funny enough, I have never been checked on the train...I don't ride it often, but the few times I have, I wonder why I even bother paying!
This is true. However, the only place I've been checked is at TCF stadium. Coming and going.:weary::cop:
After one day here, i can say that the transit system in Minneapolis is amazing. Should be the model of every major city

Not really. There is a big lot at the state fair grounds with shuttle buses that will take you to TCF Bank stadium. There are tailgating lots on University Ave that are east of the stadium, and lots around the stadium itself. I'd check with the Rutgers Alumni Association. They may have an indoor gathering at the McNamara Alumni Center.
