Never heard of him so I can’t get mad he went somewhere else.
6’5 PG, 5 star 9th ranked player. I don’t think UK even offered.
I do think there are legit concerns though. Wish we had closed the deal on Wilkerson and Wilson, (yes I know he's now hurt). Those two would have made this team vastly different.
Just imagine what we are going to say next year when we didn't close the deal on Stokes or Collins around this time again.
As long as he don’t take Stokes to sip umbrella drinks at a dirt track that smells like horse shiyat and a bunch of people dressed like it’s the titanic he’s a Cat.

Will it be junior year Trent Noah or does he morph completely into the mountain mamba or the holler baller? Him and Stokes kind of have the same body type. Just completely different athleticism.
Should have offered his HS coach like IU did. I'm down for some stuff like that. If it's legal, do it. Pay them. Overpay the studs if need be, not the role players.
I'd offer Stokes today an amount that would be hard to turn down. And if he did, then you gave it your all. Tell him and his camp, "give us that final phone call, you will want to".
What does it hurt to have a coach one year if it means landing a player. Gotta put two on the payroll sometimes.

We tried to get Jaland Lowe in the portal. UK outbid us. So we pivoted to Kyan Evans, who has had a disappointing season and lost the starting PG job to freshman Derek Dixon. So we made a big push to add a talented backcourt player and ended up with Mingo.
Who knows how this all plays out had UK not beat us for Jaland Lowe 10 months ago.

You overpaid for Lowe. We overpaid for Kyan Evans (I think UNC's general manager offered them the same NIL deal.)
I don't have concerns. We have no idea why they didn't come here, what factors were involved, and in several cases we don't even know if they were being actively recruited by us or if the recruit simply said na I'm good. We just see a kid signing somewhere, think WE ARE UK and we should get whomever we want and start being negative. Times have changed, recruiting methods have changed, Cal has ruined our fan base. Take Florida- Florida built a national champion, with zero elite recruits and our fanbase hit us with classic lines Saturday like, "we are getting beat by a dude from Princeton". Talent is talent, being an elite HS recruit means nada, it doesn't mean wins, they have huge learning gaps- look at Cal, he didn't win much with them and nothing in his last 6 years- but our fans think if you we don't get top ten players they all suck and the world is falling.
I get what you’re saying . But just to add a little more negativity… it’s not even our fourth option.
We don’t have a single point guard. We are using a 2 guard. He’s filled in nicely but he’s not a pg. him and JJ are 2s.
Pope could fail to even match Tubby's class where all we got were Jared Carter, Rekalin Sims, and Adam Williams.
Who cares with the transfer portal. If you aren't getting the top 10-15 freshmen, you should ignore them.
My fear is to get to a point were we are starting a Bobby Perry and Sheray Thomas.
Yikes… umm, you need good players to win big lol that involves recruiting elite high school and portal players.
All it would take is one big commitment to prove he can. Hell at this point any commitment. Pope has to know fans are wondering about the whopping number of 2026 commitments so far.
