Man I am ready to see this Hammer start hitting those nails. 5’10-5’11 220 pounds. This is about as sure fire RB as it gets from the Juco level. He kicked butt for Georgia Tech in the ACC before being kicked out and then continues to kick but in the Juco ranks along side another top tier RB. Now has a chance to finish his final two years in D1 as a Husker.

Just the back field alone....If he can pick up the play book fast enough and we keep Washington, our offense has a chance to be very dangerous this year. Washington is the RB that can take it 5 yards or 99 yards from anywhere on the field and Mills is a RB that can run between the tackles and pick up those tough yards or break off a big one. Add that with Martinez...dangerous.

Add in Wandale, the breakaway and reliability of JD, and some new speed on the outside and you’re looking at potentially the most explosive offense in the conference. It’s all hype at this point, but the potential is there if they live up to the hype.

If you watch his tape from GT, he actually has pretty good feet, which is something I think is not given enough attention. He has better feet than Ozigbo did, IMO, and his balance is probably better too. I don't know a lot about top end speed, but he's phsyically probably step up from Ozigbo. We all know DO's grit and determination are what set him apart, so I'm hoping Mills has similar amounts of fortitude.

With all of Washington's troubles first getting eligible and now with the law, he has been playing from behind since we signed him. I'm hopeful that someday soon this stuff gets put behind him and we can see what he can develop into when his full attention is on becoming the best football player he can. We've already seen what he can do in his nearly-high school body. If he can get it straightened out, I'm as high on Mo Washington as anyone.

Not trying to turn this into a full on boner session, but has anyone watch much of Rahmir Johnson? Dude's a waterbug, and has killer top end speed. He's the type of player that will turn a 4 yard gain into 14 in the blink of an eye. I'm very excited about these bigger names, but I think he's going to be set up to be a great contributor this fall.

When you look at the speed Frost compiled in just this class, the type of kid that can flat out fly but also create all types of problems tackling one on one and in coverage, you've got:
Wandale Robinson
Rahmir Johnson
Jamie Nance
Demaryion Houston

I know there are some other guys he recruited who are also good athletes, but these 4 by themselves will cause problems for teams. Throw in 2-3 more classes of recruiting guys like this, and Frost will have so many options developed that a guy like AM or Luke McCaffery can throw to. As long as they're dangerous enough with their feet, it will create so many problems for defenses. Exciting times

I think we’ll be great at running back, but I’m much more concerned with whether Jurgens is ready to be the spearhead of that offensive line or not.

I wouldn't worry about ability. I think Jurgens will make big progress. He seems pretty dedicated to doing so. The bigger worry is that he has seemed to be injury prone. But in any case, Austin will have it figured out and juggle the line if needs be.

The main thing with the OL is that they need to NOT make the mistakes they had in the first part of last year's season and instead build on where they finished last year. The scrambling ability of Martinez helps them a great deal.

I just hope Washington’s thigh-pads aren’t still wider than his thighs when he gets back in the fall. He looked like the girl wearing loose leggings(tights) in the spring.

Just remember that the added body thickness didn't help Tyjon Lindsey. I think those thicker thighs he developed actually took away his previous athletic edge and he no longer played like his previous self. That said, Washington needs to get back to his 190/195 or so weight but not go so far as to reduce his elusiveness.

Rumor is he has had it for awhile now. If true hopefully he has been studying.

Right, I think there is fine line with certain players. He needs to gain a bit of weight and muscle so he doesn't get killed. Not too much to hurt his athleticism.

his usual self? must've been in practice, because the only Lindsey I saw was chasing punts around like Stallone chasing chickens in Rocky 2.

“Thicker body” had nothing to do with it. Thicker does not equal slower or less athletic. But it does mean that it has to be done right. Bigger and faster can be achieved through proper S&C as well as solid nutrition. But mentality and approach is the biggest factor. Ranking them in order from most important to least important 1. Mentality/culture 2. Nutrition 3. S&C. All three were piss poor under Mike Riley and I mean PISS POOR.

I always use Tiger Woods as an example. Love him or hate him at his peak he was/is the best ever. Why? Yes he’s a superior athlete, but so was Jack Nicklaus, so are many in his sport. This is purely anecdotal but IMO athleticism is a bell curve and at the highest levels there comes a point where athleticism is negated and the difference between great and legendary has less to do with athleticism and more to do with mentality. Tiger woods dominated golf because of his mentality and focus. He won majors in his mind before he ever stepped on the tee in the first round. His laser focus when putting was unstoppable. All it took was one night in 2008 with a falling out with his wife that distracted his focus and approach. From November 2008 to April 2019 he was just another golfer and it had nothing to do with his athletic ability and I truly believe his injuries were as much of a lack of mental clarity as they were physical. And while he will never admit it publicly I bet behind the scenes there’s a trainer of some sort somewhere who has told Tiger his problem isn’t physical it’s mental.

What separates Michael Jordan from
LeBron James or Dewayne Wade? Not his athleticism. His approach. He was mentally more prepared. The X Factor isn’t athleticism; athleticism is what presents the opportunity, mentality is the X factor. The “make practice so hard that your players are begging for Saturday” mentality is what creates champions.

Lindsay wasn’t a failure here because he got thicker. He was a failure because he bought in to a culture that allowed Sunday through Friday to be little more than a walk through. My greatest hope as a Husker fan is that Scott Frost seemingly has a 180 degree different attitude and approach. He’s going to kick your *** so hard Sunday through Friday that it makes Saturday seem like a vacation. If you need reference just go back and watch Nebraska football from 1993 to 1997. Because that’s what took place. Practice hard so that the game is easy.

The Wandale hype train kept Rahmir pretty under the radar, he didn't get the attention he deserves IMO. Kid's film is nice and he can really move.

Hopefully Wyatt can give them a high floor in the RB room with his experience and give them the opportunity to get the young guys up to speed with the playbook. That's a lot for a defense to think about to put a thumper like Mills back there with the speed guys they have at RB, and oh by the way Adrian with the RPO threat.

Im curious how much we used a center to pull on some of those outside runs. I didnt look at tape but with the way defenses line up now a days(over both guards not a center) then i wonder if Jurgens athletic ability is going to be used in that way? I would use him that way.. if i were designing plays. Since most snaps are out of the shotgun or pistol.. he can get outside quick and move some boys.
