KLKN reports Miles said "The guys understand that there's a certain brand of basketball you have to play....If you don't, it doesn't matter who you are, you sit and watch." Hmmmm...how long has this been enforced? 1 game?

I get it but it is way easier said than done...I have coached for a long *** time and it is really hard to sit your best players and put in dudes that you know suck just because they might be Johnny TryHard.

We (coaches) talk a big game about that **** but it is usually just talk and if I had my job and millions of more dollars on the line, I would have a really hard time benching my best players so that Colt from Wynot can get some tick.

Since Miles is a lame duck at this point he will probably do whatever he feels like doing. Hard to predict what that will look like the next three games.

I had no problem with Miles benching Palmer in the Michigan game, but he waited way too long to do it. Palmer started monopolizing the ball almost from the opening tip, so waiting until you're down by 20+ to bench him so that you can make some kind of out-of-the-locker room statement is just dumb. Remove Palmer after the second or third terrible shot, and maybe he gets the message in time for the team to be mildly competitive in that game.

May not be announced until after the NCAA tourney if that coach is coaching a team in it. Or at least until that team is done. Unless of course it is an assistant somewhere.
Or not in the dance. I am pretty sure we'll be happy but my gut says it won't be that wow hire a lot are wanting. But I think itlit be a good fit and solid hire.... I hope

It's slim to none chance he'd take the job, but if Moos hasn't already had discussions with Hoiberg or his agent, he's not doing his job right.

I won't be upset if we end up with someone like Craig Smith or Nate Oats, as long as it's after the bigger names have turned us down.

I sure as hell hope so. We need to recruit like theres no tomorrow as soon as the new coach gets in place.
Not only recruit but keep the guys we have. I can see some transferring. I hope Moos goes with a guy who has had success, a proven winner, and has shown to be able to make the tourney. I don't care if it a P5 guy or a lower level. Just a guy who is half way competent is going to be way better than what Miles brought to the table.

I don't really see any talent worth holding onto. Maybe Roby, Allen, and Harris but other than that we need to cut most of these guys loose.

I think Nana can be a good contributor. The guy plays extremely hard and can be a good defender and rebounder. His rep was that he was a good shooter coming in but this whole team's confidence has been shook. I would be disappointed if Nana left. You put a consistent mentally tough point guard with those 3 guys you named plus Nana and you've got a good start. Then add in Heiman with another year of S&C and maybe you get at least a .500 team. Bring in a good big man and with the guy we signed, the transfer and the injury redshirt and we could be okay next year.

I could see keeping Nana and Heiman as well. That gets you to 5 guys that can be in the rotation and then hopefully the coach can bring in an additional 3 to 5 guys. I would imagine Arop stays with Nebraska but the new coach might have other plans.

Arop is already signed I think so he's ours unless he wants released. The transfer and the JUCO signee can both score so that gets you to 7. We just HAVE to find another big and Roby has to stay.

I am assuming Moos has someone waiting to be announced at this point. He has had a solid month to interview and "hire" someone.

Just a gut feeling, but if Moos does have someone wrapped up I see it being someone not coaching right now.

If it is someone who is not coaching now, I could see him following what Kansas did with football. They got a big name who was in need of redemption. So the most similar case I can come up with to that would be Thad Matta.

I don’t really put Hoiberg in the category of needing redemption. Guys like Petino and Calipari got fired from NBA jobs and fell into elite College jobs afterwards. I think Hoiberg likely has a lot of options.

I really doubt that Moos has a current HC from a P5, or even the Big East or American conference yet. JMHO. I could be wrong.

If that happens I hope there are some loose lips in the athletic department. I don’t see Moos at the press conference announcing the hire saying, “Well these guys turned us down, so we hired Coach _______.”

Coach should at least get 5 years.

Better get a good recruiter. With the NBA going to early entry at 18.

The high talent will be scooped up by the traditional powers leaving less talent to trickle to other schools.

More teams will have their quality players longer. So that's a plus.

I watched that game the other day. It was a horrific display of individualism. About 5 minutes into the 2nd half even the announcer said it. "There isn't a guy on tat bench that deserves to play". I almost spewed my tonic water all over the kitchen. Cracked me up. Not a doubt in my mind he hit the nail on the head.

From what it sounded like the JUCO is only signing with Nebraska because of his relationship with Miles and he will ask for his release if/when Miles is let go.

"I understand that there's a certain brand of basketball you have to coach...If you don't, it doesn't matter who you are, you get fired".

This is what he should have said.

So.... Miles will ride the bench?

In all seriousness though, I hope the team finishes strong. Hoping the best for the next coach!

My expectation for Miles is to load his millions on a jet and never return. That day can’t come soon enough.
