I don't know for sure, but I remember him taking breaks on the old board before this transition. My theory on some of the people we don't see post anymore is that they didn't feel like dealing with the hassle of the transition, put it off and found they didn't miss the board that much after all so they never came back. Others may just have different handles or the "Anon" handle.
Yeah, On3 really booted that along with losing almost a month and a half worth of threads from Rivals.
For me, I took it as an opportunity to re-register and get back on premium which I had let lapse. But I can see others not wanting to bother.
So, as someone who has spent a long time doing online development along with database and system migration, it still stuns me how badly they did they handled this.

Can confirm, kinda. I lurked here occasionally for months, but this free board is pretty slow so no real rush to rejoin.

Used to post daily on the CE board until the transition. The transition forced me to take a break, and I realized what a waste of time and energy it was to argue with fellow RU grads. Nothing ever got resolved and as I got older, became more tolerant of everyone having their own opinions which was fine. Came back as a premium subscriber and rediscovered my love for Rutgers sports which is why I came on the old Rivals site in the first place.
Richie and Co's videos and analysis are great and the boards are much more civil and interesting than the old days.

I agree with this and I think that’s a big part of people not missing it and not wanting to register again. I know that my interest is nowhere near what it was.
Honestly, Richie, Mike and Alec’s work is what keeps me here. I did feel bad for them during the height of portal season. I don’t think they slept for two weeks.
My theory is that they just didn't care whether the "legacy" subscribers came along or not. Yes, that would have been irrational of them, but today's world seems full of irrationality especially when it comes to anything related to the internet.
Richie and the team are amazing, but wow! What an interesting time to fall back in love with RU sports.

We lost some very good and important posters from the free board. I know Richie said most premium users are accounted for, but the vitality of the free board is the heartbeat of this community.
Agreed. Great poster and even better friend. The reason he stopped posting was the politically-driven "moderation" on the board and he's not alone in being annoyed by that. He had zero issue with the crazy, at times, posts and posters, as he found that to be entertaining and he's an IT guy, so the "challenges" of the transition weren't an issue either.
Unfortunately there was only so much I could do with regards to the transition, I will say though a lot of those free board members have signed up and are on the premium side of things.
I would be happy to have a conversation either on here through PM, email or one of my social media accounts about any and all issues. There is no politically-driven moderation, everything runs through me and I approve or deny it.
The guy who constantly talked about hookers, cocaine, and banging sheep was offended over perceived politics lol. You really can’t make this stuff up lol
It actually got somewhat better once the worst of the bad actors had a dispute with them and went off premium. He still posts here after his own site failed miserably but now that he's off premium they don't protect him as much. The few months he was totally gone was bliss though.

I avoid the political stuff here and don’t side with either camp, but it’s impossible not to see that the mods let a lot of political stuff slide and Spanky has his thumb on the scale. I left for a while and I know other posters left or rarely visit anymore because of it. Their sentiments were building before the transition but the transition made them say it’s a good time to close the door.
Spanky and Tango are outstanding and unbiased moderators. We are lucky to have them on the admin team!
Yes, I agree you did all you could with trying to find the missing members. I believe ON3 screwed up and originally made the "free board" premium.

I don’t know what Tango does besides create threads and post links without comment. Maybe he quietly goes about his moderating business. For sure he does not engage in any political stuff on the FB or MBB boards.
Spanky regularly involves himself in political banter and mocks only one side of the political spectrum and posters.
It was years ago, but TT made one of the most despicable posts I’ve ever seen on this board (and that’s saying something). And since he has mod access, he was able to delete it quickly when he got called out and pretended like it never happened. I’ll never forget that…such a sour taste.

I tried this, this offer in disingenuous at best. I was premium. I had been on the boards since the beginning. Or if not, shortly after 2002 or so. So basically about as long as you’ve been alive. DJ Spanky posted a thread about the pope on the ROUNDTABLE. that was/is against the rules. I posted something against the pope because he posted where he did and I don’t agree. So what? He’s a mod (which is crazy). he banned me from his own thread. When I bitched at him, he cried like a baby to you. You backed him up. That thread remained on the paid board. Any discussion you attempted with me ignored anything regarding that *******. I then completely deleted my rivals account. Actually I had to deleted my entire YAHOO ACOUNT! Which was a major pain in the ***.
When the merger went thru, On3 still somehow had my account details and payment information. Charged me a renewal even though I was “deleted”. I’m an IT guy so I know what that means.
So quit lying.everything is based on politics here. Any criticism is met with hostility including on YouTube. I’ve lurked on here once in a while but don’t miss the ********. I loved KYK’s crazy posts. But political or religious based posts on the paid board is unacceptable by a mod. I would never come back because it’s run by children. If you don't think that you and your two main mods are politically biased, as many posters have said, you haven't been listening. I could quote chapter and verse from our PMs, but all that would do is derail the thread and probably get me banned, so I just don't see much point in that. And the bias is the biggest reason I post a lot less than I used to and why mildone and at least 2-3 others I'm friends with aren't either. You reap what you sow.
