He also, like Pitino and every other SEC Coach can't beat UK or even come close without mucking the game up and/or playing thug ball. Of course, he's going to sound classy well after the fact his team got whooped..but his blow by handshake showed just how much of a sore loser he is..even after a game/loss that was over with 10 minutes or more to go.

I think this whole sportsmanship and respect deal that many people like to push is a fairy tale. I promise that if the handshake was mandatory then the players wouldn't do it unless someone had a personal friend on the other team. The guys are out there wanting to rip the other teams throat out and embarrass them. Respecting them is the last thing on their mind. Imo to think anything otherwise is being naive.

I agree with some of what you're saying, but I think you go too far. Some of the best traditions in sports involve sportsmanship. The handshake line at the end of every series in the NHL is pretty awesome. NFL players gathering at midfield for prayer is pretty cool. When Dale Earnhardt finally won the Daytona 500 and every other team lined up on pit road to congratulate him on his way to Victory Lane probably meant more to him than winning a race.

The difference between what your saying and the handshake line in cbb is that those things aren't mandatory, those players do that because they want to. NHL is the only one that I am unsure about.

That's all pros though. They have more perspective on things. With college it's kids. They don't care as much. Just my opinion though.

Baseball teams shake hands with their teammates and not the other team. Even then it's only the winner.

I totally disagree with you on the handshaking. None of the players in the lines after the game want to shake the other players hands. If they do then it's just because they won and want to smile at them as they pass and rub it in.

Thats the way you grew up, I didn't grow up that way or coach that way. Nothing wrong with shaking hands unless you want to show that you are a really sore loser.

Exactly right. I can count on one hand the number of times I was too mad after a game to shake the other team's hands. Only when one of them was being a punk.

You play hard but you leave it on the court.

I think they should have handshake lines, and everyone gets a gun with one bullet in it.
